Bright acid honey lemongrass and salt. A funky wine for a funky time. — 5 years ago
Delicious with puttanesca. Had a nice dryness that cut the richness of the food. Also was delicious on its own and had a good balance of flavor and body. — 6 years ago
From Taormina cooking class. Crisp and easy to drink. Slightly fruity — 6 years ago
Mature aromas of dried cherries and ripe tomato (& tomato leaf). Yet the tannins still show grip, the purity of fruit is prominent and the acidity still juicy. This one has a few years to go. A very, very good wine.
Single vineyard, old vines, 90% Sangiovese with Cannaiolo & Mammolo. — 7 years ago
Very floral aromas with a hint of citrus, light on the palate with citrus acidity, the floral comes through but is balanced by lots of saline minerality. Very nice, Mr. Rodriquez! — 2 years ago
I love wines from Chile because I never have a clue what to expect - oddball notes and new combinations of smells and tastes.
Molina del Ciego is Chilean Semillon and smells like soft Peachie O’s and sour tangerine Tang powder. Swerve to minty menthol and white pepper. Big orange tannins and celery bitters for a nice farewell. — 4 years ago
At first, quite a bit of reductive and bretty notes which blew off within a half hour. Night 1: Berries and barnyard, acid and spice.
Night 2: Thick, thick violet perfume upon opening. Tart cherry, mulberry, cardamom. Wow! A day of air does the trick. Nose is so sexy and voluptuous. Just something I want to pour all over myself. On the palate it has the hallmark texture and umami of the rosado. A bit of VA and subtle tannins are pleasant if not fully integrated. — 5 years ago
Crisp like a cider. Color, too.
Freshly picked apples. The lush smell of herbs as in green chartreuse.
Puckered punch. Sharp like the bite of cheddar.
Fun to swirl in laps around the glass. Fun to keep smelling its fragrance. Fun to look at in soft light.
Most of all, fun to drink. — 6 years ago
So much better than expected. The acid had fallen off a bit but the texture was reminiscent of older Sancerre and overall quite pleasant. Drinking the cellar dry so we had to try it! — 7 years ago
Yes! That’s was worth opening. Could have sat a long while longer; but delicious now. — 8 years ago
This was a good wine I enjoyed it a lot full bodied and balanced. — 3 years ago
Great natty orange. More funk than others from Controvento and that's a good thing. — 4 years ago
Like liking a goat’s balls. Game, farmhouse funk. Earth. — 5 years ago
This is my last bottle of this superb CCR. All sorts of secondary and tertiary scents found on. Gravel, sandstone, roasted herbs, almost a eucalyptus thing, iodine, macerated dark cherry, exotic spice market. Perfectly balanced in the mouth, with great acids and flavors that still seem youthful despite being 8 years old. Great stuff. — 6 years ago
Smooth with nice berry notes. It was a gift. — 6 years ago
Incredible. White flowers, rose petal, orange blossom, peach, pear, orange creamsicle, vanilla. Strong old vine intensity and ultra long thought-provoking finish. Just a baby still, with prevalent oak and potential for extended aging period, but still really well balanced. — 8 years ago
This $10 Siciliano Rosato is FANTASTIC. LIGHT, fruity (strawberry is most prominent), perfect acidity. Great with food or solo. Well done. — 8 years ago
