Brilliant stuff — 5 years ago
Nose has ripe blackberry, mashed blueberry, light cedar, spring voilets and tanned leather.
Palate has rich (!!) chocolate covered blackberry, mullberry, blueberry seeds, blackberry jam, moist earthy loamy soil and wet sand.
In a very nice spot tonight after a 4-hour decant. A perfect pair alongside local, grass-fed beef patties on a super hot grill, great crust and warm middle.
Also a great accompaniment to Robert Glasper's newest project, R+R=Now, Collagically Speaking, a great West Coast style jazz album, keeping with the Glasper-style, but adding some serious players surrounding him. On Blue Note for this release, so serious respect from the industry. — 6 years ago
For an entry level appellation west coast Pinot, this is right down the middle of the fairway. Ruby in the glass with cedar, birch wood, sweet cherry and cola on the nose. The palate is a bit darker bringing on sweet tobacco, black cherry and a rhubarb tart spice. I think this is $45’ish/bottle, so in terms of QPR, I’ll buy Rivers-Marie SC bottle all day over this, and while I’m not with AGalloni’s 93 rating, I’m not too far off. — 7 years ago
Overtly fruity on the nose with a slightly tarry note that dissipates during a 90 min. decant. Initially, the palate shows bright cranberry, red cherries, and a hint of cinnamon. As it continues to open, ripe blueberries appear and round out the the mid-palate. The acidity is moderate and keeps things lively, and the tannins provide a sense of grip on the back end. This is my first Teroldego and it strikes me as a terrific middle ground between Dolcetto and Barbera, borrowing elements of both. Very nicely done. — 7 years ago
Today we arrive at the last of our '03 on this bottle, many vintage's prior now in the memory banks as well. We fell in love with Anderson Valley Pinot Noir a long time ago, it always seemed to be the perfect balance of middle-weight flavors on the West Coast between the fruity PN's a few hours south, and the jammy PN's many hours north. We still buy this bottle every year since '97, but the quantities have lessened. In the late 2000's Duckhorn seemed to go crazy and instead of continually focusing on making one great bottle with Goldeneye, they diversfied like mad scientists. I'm thinking they got overrun by marketing folks at the top of their ranks. Nonetheless, it's always been a great bottle of PN. — 8 years ago
Pale gold. Crisp, smoky, reductive nose. Complex delicate but also assertive on the palate. Pineapple/tropical notes, with an undertow of flint, lemon, and oaky vanilla. A beginning, middle, and end. Super fine, complex, and very long. — 5 years ago
Nose: peanuts! Balanced sweetness (6/10). Complex spice through the middle. More forward complexity. — 5 years ago
Lot of Syrah went down tonight. On the table of about 7 West Coast Syrah, this one was definitely the most fruity. Black fruit, plum, fig throughout the front and middle. Finishes with some spice. More of a baking spice with a hint of black pepper. Hardly any funk on this wine whatsoever. This wine is dense. Full-bodied. Fair amount of tannin on the finish. When consumed alongside an herb braised pork and some hot cherry peppers, this wine kinda dies. The Walla Walla Syrahs push back! — 6 years ago
Delicious and refreshing. Great botanic flavor w/ vanilla flavor. — 7 years ago

2014 - year of the horse
Double decant and pour. A medium dark ruby red color. Buckle up, your going to enjoy this ride. On the nose: sweet raspberry, forest floor, some vegi, slight menthol, with a little cinnamon. Taste: black cherry, gravel, minerals, currents, with a smokey graphite long finish. A rich, soft, savory mouthfeel (this is no cherry cola Russian River bomb).
West slope is a limited production wine from the middle portion of the west slope block in their Carneros vineyard...get some if you can and give it some time in the cellar.. — 5 years ago
Dense Crimson. The nose of this wine is like walking into a Spice shop in the Middle East. Clove , Aniseed, Salami, Bergamot, Earth and Mineral- needless to say an interesting nose. Leads to a similar interesting savoury complex palate. I have never rated Syrah/Shiraz from the Margaret River but this was quite exceptional. This wine won the 2011 Visy Trophy for best Australian Shiraz. I had bought a dozen - sold 4 to a friend and this was the last and best of the 8. Up with the quality of a good Cornas. Will look for more from this small producer. — 5 years ago
I generally like South African Syrah as I do this one but it could have come from anywhere in the west. Soft and smooth with M intensity. This description generally applies to most airline wines which tend to be chosen to be easy to like, not to offend and tend to be middle of the road. For the amount that the charge for Business Class Airfares it is not good enough to be serving wines which cost sometimes as little as $25 as Qantas does. They should all be in the $80 to $100 range. An exception tends to be Champagne - the Drappier Rose on Qatar was very good. — 7 years ago
This is Moss Woods second ranked cuvée. I had doubts about this after their Top cuvée in 2009 was disappointing. See notes elsewhere on Delectable where it was picked Super ripe. This , however is better than expected. Herbaceous Margaret River Cabernet Notes with Merlot filling out the middle palate. Sweet plummy flavours. Very balanced and ready to drink. — 7 years ago
Recommended by Mel at West Central Wine. Mild aroma of blackberries. Definitely aeration is needed as it opens up. Mild tannins that crest in the middle. — 7 years ago
This is an awesone little wine. Decanted for about 3 hours before being enjoyed. This wine was a MONSTER. Made partially from Oakville Station / To-Kalon fruit and partially from Ashe Vineyards also in Oakville (opposite sides of 29, therefore "East Meets West"). This wine has power!! Blackberry perfume emitting from the glass. Poured a nice dark maroon color. The entry was blackberry, herb, had a nice middle that was very full bodied and dense. Finished with great length and depth with a lot of tannin. This wine will last forever it seems. This one had just a bit more than the standard 2013 Private Reserve, and was the hit of the night. — 8 years ago
Pear peach and apricot. Great punch of acid in the middle. Long. Delicious. — 8 years ago

Absolutely delicious. WON. Juicy with racy acidity. Hopefully this style will come to represent the future of pinot noir from the west Sonoma Coast. Last night tasted with Aubert UV-SL and Ferren Silver eagle also from 2017. Stylistically, the heavier higher alcohol Aubert and the Ceritas couldn't be more different with the Ferren somewhere in the middle. The group was split between the Ferren and Ceritas as the favorite but all agreed that all the wines were excellent. — 5 years ago
