One of my faves. The unique iodine taste of a Spanish rioja paired beautifully with the duck. Wow. — 9 months ago
Deep ruby in color, almost Inky, with a short reddish rim.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Very dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing blueberries, plums, cooked cherries, black currants, light cedar, dark coffee, chocolates, earth, peppercorn, pencil lead, tobacco leaf, light vegetables and bitter herbs.
Short, tangy finish with fine grained tannins and pomegranates.
This 8 year old Rioja Reserva is still young and very dry, but already drinkable.
Lacking a bit of fruits on the palate, but the nose is gorgeous, once it opens up. The nose is more interesting than the palate at this point.
Needs a few hours to open up properly, so take your time.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 10 years. Would be interesting to try it again in 5 years.
A good food wine that will pair nicely with a nice piece of steak.
A blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 7% Mazuelo and 3% Graciano.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

A blend of 80% Tempranillo, and the rest Grenache, Mazuelo and Graciano. Deep Ruby with ripe berry fruits, herbs and spice, aged for 3 years in oak and another 3 years in the bottle before release, Wow! On the palate ripe cherry, blackberries and ample dried fruits, well integrated oak and acidity with pepper, tobacco, toast oak and vanilla. Smooth with fine tannins and mineral notes, complex, long ending with earthy tones. Outstanding! Will continue to age. — 5 years ago

In 1858, it was the first winery in Rioja to produce wines using the Bordeaux method. In 1972, it was the first to promote the Rueda Designation of Origin. A blend of 90% Tempranillo & 10% Graciano (varies sometime Mazuelo is added). A powerhouse of aromas, berry, sweet spice and some citrus on the nose. On the palate, dark berry fruits, cacao, some smoky pepper with a savory character. Fine tannins, nice balance and good length ending with slight mineral, oak and earthy tones. Great value, short term aging potential. — 8 years ago
Medium ruby hue. Aromas and flavors of bell pepper, blackcurrant, cassis, and tar. Plus body, tannins, and acid. Sampled from a magnum, so it may still taste and feel a bit tight and rough around the edges, and notes may differ from a 750ml sample from the same vintage. 85% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo. — 8 months ago
A blend of 80% Tempranillo with 15% Garnacha, rest Graciano and Mazuelo, aged 5 years in American oak, deep Ruby with aromas of ripe jammy fruits, spice and tobacco notes, resulting from a warm dry growing season. On the palate flavors of ripe plum, blueberry and ripe cherry with spice, tobacco and cedar notes. Fine big rustic tannins, long finish, savory ending with tobacco and leather notes. Nice! — 9 months ago
100% Carignian , named Muzuelo locally.
Deep garnet color, mild nose with matured fruits attribute, strong tannins, needs time to smoothen. — 2 years ago

Nice body. Finish is smooth. This is grilled meats kind of wine. — 9 years ago
Blend of mostly Tempranillo with about equal amounts of Garnacho, Graciano and Manzuelo, deep Ruby with a graceful bouquet of berry fruits, cigar box spice with fresh earthy tones, a traditional Rioja, still reticent. On the silky smooth palate, elegant with layers of flavors of ripe blackberry and cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, very well balanced with fine soft tannins and a clean structure ending with a nice long chalky earthy character. Delicious! — 9 months ago

Had to get a bottle for holidays. Beautiful dark color, blend of Tempranillo, Graciano & Mazuelo, aged in new French oak for 24 months. Concentrated red fruit aromas with light oak and spice. On the palate ripe red fruit flavors, complex with layers fruit & spice, noting espresso, cacao and toasty oak. Tannins are a bit biting now but should softer with time. Lingering, great balance on the finish ending with . Decant to drink now, otherwise let this baby sit in the cellar. No ‘12 or ‘13, so grab ‘10 & ‘11 now — 7 years ago
