Second bottle of this in as many weeks. This one was quite different than the first. Definitely a lot of VA in this one. Strong acetone smell for about the first 15 minutes but most of it eventually blew off. Less fruit-forward than the last bottle. — 5 years ago

A delicious Zin. Neither too spicy or sweet. A great balance. — 4 years ago
A much bigger and bolder Claret from winemaker Matt Loso. Notes of stewed plum, chicory and currant jam. Full bodied and complex on the palate, mild to medium tannin with a velvet finish. Great addition to my Christmas table paired with coffee rubbed tri tip steaks. — 4 years ago
Classic (maybe somewhat over the top) zin-driven wine from Paso. The wine clocks in at 16%, but if you cool it down a few degrees it comes into focus. Intense berry flavor (particularly given its age), this has nice complexity on the palate thanks to Matt Trevisan’s skill at blending. Not sure how much longer this will evolve...but I see no reason to wait any longer for this one. Drink up! — 5 years ago
14’ Arista UV-EL Diablo Vineyard Chardonnay. Old world!?! Burgundian style!?! Needs another year or more!!
Rich & layered. White flowers, white peach, fig, minerality. Light on its feet. Very well-made Chardonnay.
Matt Courtney winemaker, somebody I enjoy following. Matt started up Ferren wines a few years back. EDIT- Your worst fears... last glass was better then the first. WAIT until 2020/21.
He also had an 8/10 year apprenticeship with Helen Turley at Marcassin. — 6 years ago

The 2017 ‘Foothills Reserve’ Syrah is a simply magical new wine by Matt Reynvaan. The nose takes on highly hedonistic tones, showing beautiful range from orange zest to Umami to bacon fat and roasted dates with fresh sage that all collide in the glass. Silky smooth on the mid-palate the wine unveils a remarkable depth and salinity. The elegance here is extraordinary with a sensational mouthfeel. Hoisin sauce, blood orange, bulls blood and Umami with wild blackberry cobbler flavors all combine marvelously in the glass. The exceedingly long finish lingers long on the palate. Well balanced, silky and smooth cream. Ripe pear, lemon, grass. Dry with high acidity and medium + body. Flavors of butter, cream, green apple and lime on the palate. Very tasty and easy to drink. — 4 years ago
