Getting better with age. . . Still not an overly complex cab but much more blended tannins that provide a smoothness that covers up the limited flavors. Still have some bottles and look forward to seeing how this is in future years. — 6 months ago
I tasted the 1982 Lynch-Bages twice within a month, both at a private dinner in London and at the château, from bottle and double-magnum on separate occasions. Both vindicate an exceptionally fine 1982, perhaps a bit overlooked in a vintage full of stars. Curiously, the bottle in Bordeaux does not fully deliver the mesmerizing freshness and energy compared to the bottle in London: pencil-lead-tinged black fruit intermixed with clove and freshly-rolled tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, perhaps just a little austere compared to its peers. Yet, indeed, the bottle in London exudes class and composure with a detailed, mineral-driven vintage belying that year's unseasonably warm period. Superb. Tasted both in London at a private dinner and at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2023) — 10 months ago
Tastes like subtle red berries, flinty and terroir. Rated 92 by James Suckling. Soft tannins - not hearty but not as berry flavored as other Garnacha wines. — 3 years ago

19 years young. Peach, apricot and so much slate. Very airy. Confectionary aromas as I coax it. Juicy, complex and mineral with that piquant 2004 acidity and lusciousness. Outrageously complex. Juicy as all can be with peach and apricots galore and a slatey mineral finish. Superb. Outrageous florals after air. Lilacs and even roses. — 6 months ago
Has been a little over a year and wanted to check in. Gorgeous herbal nose and some just ripe apricot. Lifting minerals. Floral. Citrus. Just gorgeous. Really open. Wow. Palate is a grapefruit and citrus explosion. Wonderful purity and freshness. So delicate yet very powerful and deep. So tense and structured. Wonderful dry extract. Müllen at his best here. Nimble and powerful. With years to go. Such nice sappy citrus and apricot on the finish. — 3 years ago
Delicious, almost a bit fizzy. Purchased at Bar & Garden in Culver City, drank at home with a caprese and steak with herb salsa. — 5 years ago

The 1982 Léoville Poyferré is a vintage that I have not seen for a while. This bottle is splendid. It is Ferrous on the nose and offers wilted rose petals, asphalt and pencil shavings, now firmly into its secondary aromatic phase yet maintaining impressive delineation and freshness. Maybe a little rustic compared to recent vintages, yet charming. The palate is very well balanced, and there is a touch of Brettanomyces that would be understandable given the warmth of the growing season. Cedar and graphite flourish toward the finish. This is at a peak now, and as I averred before, I would drink these sooner unless you have larger formats on your hands. Tasted at Burns & German's dinner to celebrate The Complete Bordeaux Vintage Guide book at Medlar. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)
