Ciavola Nera

Dissidente Vino Bianco 2018

Unfiltered, not clarified, spontaneous fermentation
Golden colour
Quite oxidative nose
Almondy, the fruit is kind of baked, perhaps an apple tart, a bit of spices and honeyed
It's a bit warm with its 14.5%
50/50 mantonico and malvasia
It could improve, but i am not convinced
It feels like i wanna be, but i am not

Biancomargherita Calabria Mantonico Guarniccia 2018

65% guarnaccia bianca 35% mantonico bianco
I am going hard local and i must admit i am enjoying it even though i know already i will never find gold in the glass
A touch aromatic perhaps, granny smith apple, sage, thyme, iodine.
Not elegant maybe, but definitely enjoyable
Fairly long
I am happy with my little discoveries
I am meeting young guys that believe in the territory
With taralli and eggplant pure with chilli it was spot on

Masseria Perugini

Bifaro Mantonico Malvasia 2021

Orange wine with a healthy dose of sediment. This is labeled 2021. All the websites say that it’s a blend of Malvasia and Mantonico with 4 days of skin contact, but this bottle is labeled 100% Mantonico and 5 days of skin contact. It’s acidic and dry, almost tannic. Mild flavors of citrus peel, peach, vanilla, and a little nutty. — 10 months ago

L'eremita Bianco 2019

I got told Mantonico( this is 100% mantonico)was the most interesting white variety in Calabria and i must agree
It has an intense nose of honey, fruit and mineral
It has its balance and a good length
Potential to age a few years easily
Good freshness
Label only produced in 2019 in perhaps a couple of thousands of bottles
I'd buy this again for sure

The final wine from our wine tasting/pairing. This is a wonderful dessert wine that is delightfully sweet and pairs beautifully with dessert. #eatingitaly — 8 years ago

Chora Bianco Mantonico 2021

For the first year this label is 100% Mantonico
Indeed i am truly loving this local variety
It grows often quite high uphill, even 5-600 metres over sea level
It results a bit aromatic, quite fullish to be a wine that is kind of considered a entry level wine
I guess it stays on the lees for a bit
However the result is delicious, quite mineral, very easy drinking and persistent
I am very curious to see how this could age for a couple of years
Btw i paid it 7.50 euros🤫🤫🤫
