Delicious and full of energy. Not as polished as the CR, but distinctly northern Rhone and really good. — 5 years ago

Back on the diet.
The 2011 Jamet CR is one of the most consistent wines I’ve ever had. Over the course of about a dozen bottles, it was remained the same - pure, aromatic, drinkable and fresh. This was the first bottle I’ve had in a few months. It still has many of the qualities of earlier bottles, but there’s an intimation of maturity in the more complex aromatics and more supple tannins.

O. M. G. The real deal Cote Rotie. Stephan knows his stuff. A traditional baseline CR with some eccentric savory elements. Still the perfect pairing with lamb chops. — 7 years ago

Reviews for this wine are all over the place. We were lucky! Perfectly evolved NR Syrah. Not the top tier of CR, but a nice example. None of the xs acidity others have complained about. — 9 years ago

The Grenachista Alder Springs Grenache Noir 2016

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim and medium intensity.

Fruity nose with blackberries, blueberries, sweet strawberries, raspberries, wood, spices, earth, light vanilla, tobacco, coffee and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet strawberries, wood, vanilla, cloves, herbs, earth, tobacco, coffee, light vegetables, chocolates, peppercorn and spices.

Medium plus in length on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very enjoyable Grenache from Sonoma valley. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows the tannins (60 minutes).

Tastes like a good quality Côte du Rhône red. Spicy and fruit forward.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with cheeses and cured meats.

14.6% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$38.

Maryline et Christophe Billon

La Brocarde Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2012

Concentrated, plush, ripe Côte-Rôtie. Shows the warmth of the site in its fruit depth and softer acid profile. Oak is still strong right now, and seems to be slowly melding away into the wine. I like this almost “new age” style, its sleek and very user friendly, it does not need food in my opinion. Lacking that heady CR perfume and persistent mineral drive for me, but makes up for it in richness of fruit and richness on the palate. Macerated black raspberry and black cherry, bacon, iron, sweet oak, coffee bean, cool herbs, violet. A few hours of air and this really began to move into a more savory/garrigue expression, leathery notes, that crushed rock minerality on the finish. Finish is even more expansive and persistent. — 7 years ago

As Mike noted, this one stood out for its elegance. Darn tasty too. N. Rhone character came through in blind tasting, but was not thinking Cote Rotie as there was more finesse than the more muscular Roties we've had at recent tastings.
