De l'Orée Ermitage Blanc Marsanne 1999

100% old-vine Marsanne from the Les Murets lieu dit which is predominantly east facing on the hill. This was the most powerful of the three Hermitage Blancs tonight. The nose was redolent of marmalade, honey, butter cream frosting, and slate. Luxurious texture with a long finish. Lovely with monkfish, sweet potato, leek, and winter truffle. Drink now through 2034+. — 2 months ago

2003 bottle in 2023 is already a bit weak, although settled and mature has its elegance, and softened expression of CdP — 5 months ago

"Les Granits" Saint Joseph Syrah

2020 drinking very well after a short decant - beautiful full body with a very persistent finish. Dark fruits, cassis, smoke and mineral / iron accents - great quality relative to the price — 6 months ago

"Le Pavillon" Ermitage Syrah 2020

Phenomenal! Dark plum base but layers of exhiberant and concentrated small dark berries and red fruit jump from the glass, but all enveloped in deep, complex earthy tones. Palate is insane, minerality and acidity are tingling, almost sparking on the sides of the mouth, mingling with the very fine lively tannins. So much pleasure without sacrificing any seriousness — 6 months ago

Croix de Bois Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

The ‘14 was superb, perfectly integrated and extracted. Old leather and cassis. Long finish. The ‘16, however, was another level of rich and round, primary with fig and blackcurrant. Black olive. Years away from peaking, will be a star, likely 9.6++ — 9 months ago

Domaine de Bila-Haut Côtes du Roussillon Villages Grenach Blend 2017

Ruby burgundy color. Jammy and fruit forward with berries and some spice. Smoky and a hint of umami. Rhubarb and strawberry. Tart cherry pies. Nice acidity with a hint of wet rubber or something in the palate. A tasty and unique southern red. — 5 years ago

Series M Red Blend 2020

Smooth, rounded and perfectly balanced. But there is a powerful core that slowly reveals it selves as the layers open up. Spiced dark blue fruit with fine fully integrated tannins providing structure and a soft finish. You want to hear the story of how this wines was borne in a far away place on an ancient soil? Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

1 hour decant(little fine/cloudy sediment). A breathtaking dark magenta color. On the nose: jumping from the glass are stewed cherries/plum, herbaceous, licorice, roasted meat, earth, touch of menthol. Taste: elegant, juicy, velvety wine with dark cherry, pepper, chocolate, cedar, and a anise/tobacco medium plus finish. From the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas mtns. Purchased on a recent visit...beautiful indoor/outdoor tasting room featuring their small production wines. If you want to throw down some serious change they offer a terrific multi course food and wine pairing in the underground cellar. — 9 months ago
