We are drinking a circa 1982. 35 years old! After decanting and letting breath half an hour we stepped into the world of this Bordeaux. The bottle wasn't full. The cork was extremely rotted. First impression, incredibly creamy, jammy and multiple generation of tastes. Soft tannins and long lasting. Earthy and woody. Absolutely shocking how complex this is. It's what makes you fall in love with wine. What's makes you comprehend the life of a wine. We also identified a pine resin and wood notes texture while others found it smoky and raisin-flavoured. One of the best wines we've tried. Revisited after an hour. Noticed it became smokier, earthier and leathery. Cloudiness and rusty colour remains. Wow. Wow. — 9 years ago
1965 Baga from Barraida (Agueda), Casal Mor 'Caves Primavera' is still made to this day! Founded in 1944.
So, now the wine!
Color of tawny and brick, absolutely as expected at this age. The cork was whole when pulled via Durand, a little wet and very dark.
The nose was sous bois, crushed fall leaves, dried chipped beef, citrus peel, dried flowers and red fruits.
The palate was elegant and indeed tasted Portuguese, with some notes and textures that reminded me of old Barbaresco, Rioja and even Burgundy in its purity and finnesse.
Further time won't help this wine, but to taste this history, this snapshot of time, is one of the reasons I love wine so much.

Thank Goodness for Napa Cabs! Especially after that last Oregon Pinot Noir! This is Honig 2013 cabernet sauvignon. A solar powered vineyard and family owned. Love the bee and the H! The cork was perfect. The color is opaque purple. The bouquet is fantastic with aromas of blackberry jam and African violets. The initial palate is butter chocolate spicy blackberry and figs. The finish is long and has an oaky dry ending. There is no sour anything!!! This is delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow we try Turnbull... — 10 years ago
Color: Pale yellow and moderate fizziness.
Nose/Smell: Slightly savory to start. Otherwise very tight.
Palate/Taste: Slightly dry, and no minerality!
Opinion: So much fizz, cork exploded before the metal was even off. No minerality which we love. — 11 years ago
Love the salinity on this. Very food friendly. — 11 years ago
Wine showed extremely well and opened up beautifully over the course of 2hrs. Recommend decanting and allowing at least 30min+ before consuming. Lots of dark cherry, dark chocolate, delicate spice notes on the palate. Soft yet full mouth-feel. Tannins are soft, integrated and very approachable. This wine is still well on the youthful side but showing the benefits of bottle age. My guess is this wine easily has at least 3 to 5 years of youthfulness. Curious to see if it develops a bit more complexity with time. Would love to pull another cork in 5 to 8yrs. Fantastic showing for BC wine or any region for that matter. — 12 years ago
100% Baga grape.
I also love the label made from cork. — 13 years ago
Giving a slight chill now, to be paired with a beautiful slab of steelhead trout on the grill this evening 🐟😋
Notes forthcoming...
Profile is still consistent with my prior notes, please search if you're interested. I was a little concerned on cork extraction, slightly soft but well intact. Nose started out a little oxidative, different from other experiences on this one, but all that seems to have blown off, doing great now and should improve!
I love grilling a good cold water fish, always plenty of fats in the muscle to be very forgiving on the grates. In addition to proper surface prep, this fish is always non-stick, skin and flesh sides. — 8 years ago

Aged so well. Drinking the ‘08 and it’s damn good. Light ruby color and a hint of tobacco at the end of the cork. Nice flavorful Pinot body with the delicate characteristics you love about a Bourgogne — 8 years ago

This Bella Oaks Vineyard Cab was bottled in 2001 and finally enjoyed 16 years later. Popped the cork about 10am and by 6:30 pm it was time to drink. It was everything I hoped it would be after sitting on it for so long. Black Cherry and blackberry flavors with a touch of heat on the finish. It is what you love about a single vineyard Cab out of Napa. — 9 years ago
I like the tang in this wine. Also love the glass cork! — 10 years ago
Great wine. Love this. Thank Aria. — 10 years ago
One of my favorite cheap Chardonnays. It's the one I keep on hand at all times for just a normal weeknight glass of wine. And the screw top makes it last longer than a cork. Usually $10 or less at grocery. — 10 years ago
Amazing full bodied Riesling. Love the glass cork! — 11 years ago
As my family is from Austria, I was eager to try this wine. It comes in 1L size with a bottle cap not a cork or screw top. It was delightful with cheeses. A zing on the tongue. Would definitely drink with light meals and snacks! Refreshing. — 11 years ago
This boxed two-pack of '97 PlumpJack Cabernet Sauvignon 'Reserve' came with one Cork Closure and one Stelvin Closure to compare their aging development. Both bottles tasted side-by-side had the same opaque ruby color, similar aromas of earthy cassis, menthol and toasty oak and comparable brawny flavors of black raspberry and currant. The screw-cap bottle, however, seemed richer, sweeter and fruitier, but with more tannic grip, while the cork version seemed softer, more evolved and slightly more complex. A most interesting experiment! — 12 years ago
Yum love this wine — 12 years ago
Love this rose, but hate the bottle packaging with the stupid glass cork. Fun fact the glass cork fits underneath the bottle. — 8 years ago
I love this Australian screw top. Honey and fruit leather with a lacroix. Very taste fresh and deep stoned summer sunset or maybe a sunrise when you’re Tripping — 8 years ago
Went to this winery for my bachelorette. Winery had a stand at wine fest so this is a bottle from then. Love the glass cork. Wonderful blend and tasted great with steak. — 9 years ago
I know all of you sommeliers are drinking a perfect glass of history. think of the great william wallace. so while your drinking your glass of history by the wood burning fireplace let me explain this fantastic out of this world the most buck for your money. so I just recently bought a cork screw and turned it into a lewer (no pun intended) and so we began training. bottle 1 was corked and it was like the Aspen alps the crisp earth flavor and then it hit me. I am now in training to be a sommelier. jerkin off is now my #2 thing on my mind. I take a sip and I wish all you sommeliers in training good luck. — 10 years ago

This is another Oregon Pinto Noir. The best state in the world for Pinot Noir I have concluded. This is Winderlea 2013 Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills Vineyards. The cork was pretty bad. The bouquet was much better after 30 minutes of decanting and aerating with my new Aervana electric wine aerator!!!!!!!!!!! I love it! I love the wine too. The bouquet is hot cherry pie fresh from the oven. Very simple. The color is a beautiful clear ruby red. The legs are long and thick, unlike most pinot noirs. The initial flavor explosion is red grapes and black cherries. There is a hint of green apple. This is a thick on the palate pinot. The finish is long and has a dry mineral like finish. At 12.8%, I am very impressed!!!!!!! — 10 years ago
Well its my last bottle of Ehlers 2009 1886 Estate Cab. They donate to international cardiovascular research which I love! The cork was almost perfect with a few deviations. My rating is almost the same as my previous. Color is opaque. There is a beautiful rim of dark purple on the surface edge of the glass. The legs last forever and are thick and long. The bouquet is blackberry pie. The initial palate is buttery chocolate and spice with splashes of blackberry, blueberry, and boysenberry. The finish is dry with hints of plantain peals. It leaves a tingle on the lips with a thirst for another sip. Wow I want to make this last! — 10 years ago
Love a good screw top — 11 years ago
Many can get down with this dolcetto. Light tannin, good acidity. Strawberry, rosemary and clove. I could see myself eating a bowl of Mediterranean mussels with this. Solid choice. Oh and I love the glass cork! — 11 years ago
This wine has the potential to be very good, but at only 10 years under Stelvin, it is still a baby. Makes one wish for a real cork. The nose is a very appealing funky and earthy mess of plums and black cherries. The wine is dark, about as dark as Pinot gets. On the palate, it is exuberantly lively. A piercing acidity leads into a sweet-tart cherry and red raspberry fruit profile. The finish is extremely long. This is a wine of great precision, yet one which has not yet shed its baby fat and one wonders if it ever will under the screw cap. The fruit and acid are still a bit disjoint and raw. Should age for years. — 12 years ago
Love this one bc it's dry like a Malbec but fruit forward and screw top! — 12 years ago
Bob McDonald

Aromas of cherry leather and dried fruit followed by a full bodied palate showing sweet ripe fruit. Looking back through my written notes I always seem to drink this hugely flavoursome Wine (15.5% Alcohol) on the coldest night of the year! Usually a Grenache dominant blend but in 2008 the blend from Drew Noon MW was 50% Shiraz; 38% Grenache; 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Graciano. As an experiment half the bottles had a cork; the other half a screw cap. Noon concluded some years later that the screw cap would go through to 2025 whereas the cork through to 2020. — 8 years ago
