Les Fleurs Du Mal

Les Fleurs du Lac

White Bordeaux Blend 2021

Another delicious rendition of the “Chateau Lagrange Blanc.” Beautiful fragrance seemingly melds a little herbal, gooseberryish SB with characteristic lanolin and orchard fruit Semillon notes (I have no idea what the blend is here.) Deep, lovely, soft minerality too. Impeccable balance in the mouth. Nice but gentle acids keep the deep, long, dry palate fresh. Such a great value too. — 8 days ago

@Tom Casagrande, the 2021 was apparently 80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sauvignon Gris — yet the Lagrange webpage discusses picking the “Semillon” — so, is Sauvignon Gris the same as Semillon in Bordeaux?? I don’t know.

I guess they didn’t end up putting the Semillon in the blend. Sauvignon Gris is a different grape. I’ve had some Sauvignon Gris from the Loire. Nice grape!

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2013

Great moment of pleasure with this Morgon 2013 still alive, and superbly advanced. Aerial notes of dried flowers, rose, peony, fresh strawberry, and pretty evolution notes, truffle, it pinote! The final is permanent, on fleshy tannins with a lot of chew.

Chiroubles Gamay 2015

Well aged in Magnum format. A very beautiful beaujolese vintage who pinotes as we like. Notes of grape variety: cherries, rose petals and iris.. Beautiful notes of evolution dried flowers, truffled, humus. The 2015 density and the evolving aerial nuances of gamay form a rich and refined bouquet. Very greedy. Interesting final for this type of wine.

Fleurie Gamay 2015

Some beautiful notes between raspberry, pepper, fennel, various herbal nuances, dried flowers. The freshness is beginning to fade, 2015 is on its final stretch. Already almost too old.

I do have a weak spot for Jean-Paul and his wines, two lovely visits cemented that!!

@Doug Powers I can only agree with this, given the number of bottles of JP Brun I have in the cellar.

Brouilly Beaujolais 2006

These old Brouilly are really incredible! Intense notes of peppery wild strawberries, truffle evolution, undergrowth, dried flowers, blood orange.. the finish is persistent, like the fragrances of a perfume, intertwining fine tannins and endless acidity veins, with light bitters welcome.
