I didn’t get anything on the nose. Completely closed off and holding back. On the palate a different story. Vibrant, juicy acidity, some apricot and the color is so inviting . This is not classified with the typical German ripeness monikers, but judging by the balanced sweetness and alcohol level I would say it’s an Auslese. German Riesling + age = match made in heaven. — 2 years ago
From a hot vintage this explodes in the glass with ripe peach, pineapple & mango with some baked lemons and a healthy dose of steely rocky minerality. There’s a hint of creaminess, too.
On the palate this is also slightly richer, opulent, almost Mediterranean (think: Assyrtiko).
Round & ripe with peach, mango and some orange zest with juicy herby acidity balancing it all out. Chamomile and a whiff of honey and some crushed rocks towards the long finish.
Although fully Trocken, in this vintage this is much closer to a Spätlese in style.
I do prefer my Rheingau Rieslings drier, sharper, zippier & leaner, but this one has charm and character.
And it‘s delicious sipping. — 2 years ago
Very slightly off dry, nice and bright, lemony, apple, Asian pear. Tiny bit of limestone. Not super complex, but very lovely. — 10 months ago
2h decant.
Baked lemons, ripe peach, a herby, slightly bitter orange and a dollop of honey.
On the palette this is creamy, quite rich yet with the typical steely lemon acidity. A mineral edge, great purity & depth. Linear yet with nice edges around.
Amazing. And so delicious. — 2 years ago
Schatzi Milan ny. 12% abv. Rheingau. VDP. Tricken. Citrus rind. Tart and round sweetness in the back. Hint of bitterness which is just enough for me. Very acidic but it works. Highly recommend for the price! — 4 years ago
