Juicy, sappy, polished, delicious.
Pure dark cherry with a pinch of dried herbs and a nice mineral backdrop. Nice depth, too.
Polished tannins, juicy acidity and purity of fruit on the palate. After 8h secant this shines yet in ‘16 the Radici shines brighter.

Popped and poured into red Solo cups. The 1997 “Radici” Riserva pours a garnet color with a near opaque core and a slightly orange rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe, tart, and some desiccated fruit: Montmorency cherry, plum, licorice, smoked meat, balsamico, a mix of organic and inorganic earth, exotics spices and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tanning and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and earthy. This was quite the departure from the Napa wines surrounding it but made a statement. Drink now through 2037. — 7 months ago

Procede molto bene. L’alcol si è definitivamente equilibrato. Il tannino è ancora prorompente, deve maturare. L’acidità è ancora vivida e promettente. Il bouquet è incredibile, stemperato l’alcol ora c’è spazio a tutto e di più. Un finale amaro di polvere di cacao liquirizia radici. L’attacco del bouquet è intenso e molto complesso. Prugna, anice stellato, ciliegie, more in confettura, mirtilli. In bocca è inteso e incredibilmente persistente. Lunghissimo. Da conversazione meditata. A distanza di 6 anni dalla vendemmia è un vino eccellente. Può solo migliorare a dismisura. È fondamentale caraffarlo o decantarlo o ossigenarlo. — 5 years ago
