Mild bouquet of dusty dark fruit. Quick mild sour cherries upfront with a dusty fruit mild tobacco finish. Definitely old world style. — 10 months ago
What a nose. Custardy, gras, tropical but also granitic. Wow. So expressive. Citrus marmalade. So mineral and just expansive. Like a 9.6 nose. Maybe more! It’s a 9.7 nose. Sickness. Palate has energy for days and days and is so elegant, fresh and complex. Beautiful. Long. This is one of the best St. Perays I have ever had. Wow does it cling with super pure citrus and edgy tropical fruits that just coat the palate. Rich and energetic is my favorite combo. As this airs it comes more into focus and gets so nimble. So complex. Almost a 9.7! — 2 years ago
It’s funny how the least promising bottles can surprise you. This was purchased for $15 a decade ago and forgotten about out in the cellar. Decanted off the sediment now, it’s alive and enjoyable, elegant in its own rustic way. Lively black currant and black pepper nose, some fresh green pepper, spice, good acid, surprising complexity and a really nice silky texture through the palate. Even better with a few days of air. — 4 years ago
Lovely intense medium cherry lipstick nose. Palate is crunchy cherries. Delicious. Perfect balance. Amazing freshness. Stay tuned ... this will change as it opens.
As it opens the nose is dense perfume. Really concentrated. Almost like a gas transforming into a liquid in your nostrils.
Palate is amazing. Terrific texture. Crazy internal aromatics. Palate coating beyond belief.
90 minutes in this is spectacularly delicious.
This vaporizes chevillon so bad it’s not funny. Cant believe this is a village wine. Wow.
Tanins are still a bit chunky. My guess is that they need another 2-3 years to smooth out.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading just one wonderful piece, MAHLER (Symphony No. 3), accompanied with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.
We're revisiting some producer bottles from our late Spring France vacation earlier this year.
Stunning nose of pineapple core, wildflower honey and wet stones, I'm not sure I can actually describe all the magic happening in this glass. Palate is evolving with each sip, under-ripe pineapple, over-ripe pear, watery honey, light oak touch and wet slate dust. Just amazing!
Photos of beautiful late Spring (2018) biodynamic vineyard rows in Saint Aubin, my winemaker crush Jean Jacques Morel giving us the low down inside his living cellar and our bottle of the evening.
We only enjoyed about 1/3 of the bottle, saving for a day or so to see where this goes, notes will be updated. — 7 years ago

Estate named Beau-Séjour in 1787 by General Jacques de Carle, proprietor at the time. Michel Bécot bought estate from Dr Jean Fagouet in 1969 increasing vines from 10.5 hectares to 15, acquiring Trois Moulins plateau in 1979, kept the name Beau-Séjour Bécot. Blend of 87% Merlot, 9% Cab Sauv & 4% Cab Franc. Nice berry aromas, ripe cherry & fresh raspberry flavors with notes of sweet cacao & tobacco adding some toasty notes. Firm tannins, not overpowering, lingering ending with tangy sweet oak.Tasting Sample. — 6 years ago
Very well rounded for a wine in this price range. Nice fruit and mouthfeel. Can probably age a few years too. — 6 years ago
