This afternoon the wine I have decided to open was a Christmas gift from my parish priest. The 2011 Penfolds Bin 8 Cabernet Sauvignon - Shiraz blend, 62% Cab. Sauv. and 38% Shiraz.
On the nose is dark jammy fruit, black raspberry, black cherry, blueberry, prune, black currant, licorice, violet, lavender and graphite.
On the palate the dark fruit comes through but not jammy, blackberry, black cherry, boysenberry, cranberry, star anise and graphite.
A very silky smooth mouthfeel with medium acidity, medium granular tannins and a pleasingly medium finish.

Happy Pinot Noir Day!
Here is my delicious contribution to the Celebration.
This four-year-old Pinot Noir from Sonoma County is drinking very nicely now.
Medium bodied with medium-plus acidity.
Showing red fruits with light wood, light vegetables, tobacco, dark coffee, light barnyard and black pepper.
Nicely balanced with lots of fruits. Good right out of the bottle, nice and engaging and easy drinking.
Nice and interesting with nice complexity and mouthfeel. A great new world Pinot Noir.
I've had this vintage a year ago, and it is getting better, as I expected. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.
This Single Vineyard Pinot is tasty.
I gave it a light chill, and paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. Great for this hot weather.
Aged in neutral French oak barrels for 18 months. A small production of only 110 cases.
14.1% alcohol by volume.

👄 Med creamy body of black berry fruits w/ dark plum, minerals, blueberry, cocoa & a touch of red liquorice
🎯 Med++ smooth dark fruits w/ a touch of blue & red berry in fine mineral, liquorice, cocoa & a light oaky linger — 7 years ago
54% Grenache 38% Mourvèdre 8% Syrah. Purple red, medium extracted. Light Brett and blue fruit in nose, later, strawberry and mint notes emerge. Strawberry and cherry flavors, medium tannins and astringency initially, a tad hot? Eucalyptus aftertaste. Allow one hour to open. Overall, a surprising expression of these two to three-ish varietals. — 7 years ago

Owes name to man of the cloth born in 1264, Bertrand de Goth, Bishop of Comminges, in the Pyrenees, later became Archbishop of Bordeaux in 1299. Blend, 57% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 5% Petit Verdot & Cab Franc, aged in new French oak for 18 months. Pronounced youthful black fruit aromas with earthy baking spices. Blackberry & plum palate flavors with cedar & spice integrated with firm tannins, long ending, earthy oak with a mineral tang. Needs more bottle age! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
The latest newly released 904 vintage 🎉
What do you folks think of the new more modern label? Personally I find it too modern for an old world wine 😁 but the great news is the contents are still superb 🎉
We killed 3 bottles of this at the weekend & alas I didn’t take notes, so will do so next time, but it had the typical old world LRA 904 nose with a fab well balanced yummy body that should match the 04/05 in quality given a few years 👍
LRA does it again 👏
Incredible quality @£38 ✅

Wasn’t expecting to like English sparkling nearly as much as I’m enjoying this bottle. A truly bizarre combination of ripe fruit and racy acidity (higher than the average for champagne) that can only come from somewhere this far north > 50 degrees latitude (long growing season + long days during growing season). Lemon curd, green apple danish, even notes of pear and passion fruit. Bond may have to trade out his Bollinger for this. — 4 years ago
