Second tasting, my last bottle of vintage, 8 months since previous tasting. Purple-red, moderately extracted, very good clarity. Initially butter, black currant and eucalyptus notes in nose. Tart; needs time to open. Strawberry and blueberry flavors with length. Strawberry aftertaste with moderate chocolatey bitterness. Moderate skin astringency emerges after 45 minutes alongside pomegranate-like acidity (and maybe flavor). Milder Brett expression here, not much of a defect now, arguably. After 90 minutes, the tannins and tartness are sufficiently tamed to enjoy this wine. Decant longer though if you can. I can’t think of any other wines in the Pacific Northwest quite like this one, which makes it a special experience.

54% Grenache 38% Mourvèdre 8% Syrah. Purple red, medium extracted. Light Brett and blue fruit in nose, later, strawberry and mint notes emerge. Strawberry and cherry flavors, medium tannins and astringency initially, a tad hot? Eucalyptus aftertaste. Allow one hour to open. Overall, a surprising expression of these two to three-ish varietals.

One of the true strong suits of Washington wine is that so many of these are such tiny case production. Only 312 cases of this which consists of 54% Grenache, 38% Mourvèdre and 8% Syrah. All three varieties are from individual vineyards around the state as well. Drinks like a CDP, but priced like a Cotes du Rhone. Highly recommended.
