Good bit of petrol on the nose. Not quit as rich as I would have imagined. Plenty of fruit left. Drinking really lovely. Oh Lotus of Siam, how I cannot wait to be back! — 9 years ago
When you hike in the Finger Lakes, you can easily think you're in Burgundy or Alsace. The topography is very close and the climate is just a little more continental. So the choice of grape varieties follows naturally. Pear, apple, and a little pineapple fruit come across in this wine. It has some stony and steely minerality, but less than typical for this region. There's a lot of vanilla and butter, with smoke and oak. These latter elements are too strong in my opinion. And the acidity is a little too weak. If that and the fruit were stronger this would be on par with Chablis. So it's a little off balance. But I enjoyed it very much with a salmon salad. — 9 years ago
Brought to my Ontario wine history class by the co-founder of Inniskillin, Herr Karl Kaiser. The colour is pure gold and extremely viscous. The nose is still tropical as an icewine dispite it's age and filled with tonnes of brown sugar. The palate confirms the nose and is absolutely delicious...the sweetness is well balances by good acidity, the beauty of Vidal icewine is exemplified in this bottle. Danke Herr Kaiser! — 10 years ago

Klaus Peter #Keller seems to have no problem dealing with the various differences from vintage to vintage...particularly when he's working with a glorious year like 2009.
Drinks now and how but really deserves serious aging. — 11 years ago

Had it April 2010.
Straw yellow colour.
Toasty nose, lanolin, also toasted corn or rice , like some of those snacks. Hints of honey. Kaiser pear, passion fruit, basil, gunpowder, sulphur, lime, green apple.
Mouth still full of freshness, chalky, macadamia biscuits, peanut butter, wax and all there was in scents is there in your palate. Somehow it reminds you of a Mersault, but it has never touched any wood. Passion fruit drives the game, it is long and enjoyable. Many years ahead, but how better it can get? It opens even more with notes of yeast like an old champagne.

Klaus Peter Keller, AR's apprentice once said this is his favorite wine given itselegance. Multi-layers on nose, cherry, light red fruits, very fine herbs. Despite its 21 years, it shows character, freshness and extremly appealing. Drinks too easily. — 11 years ago

My first Morstein experience from Klaus-Peter Keller. A lot of yellow fruit upfront so we decant it for 2 hours. Then you get more & more spicy and tobacco notes. A massive, deep wine with a lot of punch but also always a certain elegance. Typical for the Morstein site where the Soil is thicker. Gets better & better in the glass. Lovely salty component on the long finish. Much potential left. Just give it 5 more years in the cellar. — 9 years ago
— 10 years ago
2011 vintage. Light golden hue. Mineral, chalky, peaches and stone fruits to the fore. Quite ripe. On the palate, dry (probably more than 4g of residual but acidity masks the sugar), medium plus body, high alcohol, high extract, long and persistent finish and huge refreshing, tangy acidity, especially on the finish. Peaches and apricots, lemon zest from the acidity, crisp and long textured wine with real weight. Love it. More similar to an Alsatian Riesling than a Mosel/Rheingau Riesling, and although weighty, no noticeable TDN notes or lime juice zest of a High Eden or Clare Valley Aussie Riesling. — 11 years ago

This wine is so intense in its youth but with age has both mellowed out and developed a layered complexity and expansiveness on the palate. I’d give a slight nod to the Prager Klaus from the same year but this is among the greatest Austrian Rieslings I’ve tasted — 8 years ago
