Blood of kings — 10 years ago
The 2009 Kings Row is an interesting wine with rich tobacco, cherry and licorice aromas. This has a lusciously smooth taste of the red fruit, pencil shavings with a slight hint of spices that lingers on your palate makes this a nice guilty pleasure. It is costly and a nice treat but there are others out there that have a better value to quality ratio for those that don't want to drop big bucks. But if you can swing it please treat yourself. #kingsrow #calistoga #checkerboard — 10 years ago

Wonderful! Be sure to decant, needs to open up when 1st opened. This is known as the "wine of the kings". It could age for 20 years. — 8 years ago
Rustic fruits of; plum, figs, dates, herbs, grilled meats, very old leather and dry flowers on the nose. The color is still opaque with a garnet rim. The palate is stewed fruits; cooked rhubarb, baked plum, stewed dark cherries, dry cranberries, dry raspberries, rustic blackberries, figs, dates, stewed blueberries, black licorice anise, old leather, dry brown dusty soil, dry pebbles, dry brush, steeped tea, dry flowers, candied wood shavings, light spice, softened baking spices, beautiful acidity. There's great balance of fruit and earth, beautiful structure, long length and still perfect tension. The elegant long finish is second to none. 48 years in bottle and still such life due to the high acid 66 vintage. Latour is the king of kings for a reason and it's well deserved. Happy 5-0 Sofia. Love you!!! It continues to improve and put on weight as it opens up. It's so delicate & beautiful! Stunning with the wagyu beef. It's in the conversation for the best red wine I've had!!! — 9 years ago

Very, very sweet and 19% alcohol content means it takes all my cares way quickly :) Just a great night cap to end the day perfectly. — 10 years ago

I give this a high mark, as it is probably the best actual fruit tasting brandy I have ever had.
A bit of an alcohol that needs to burn off, yet once you get part this, the ripe Bartlett pear comes in, and keeps going, long after you have swallows and the alcohol has aired out. Crazy!
