De l'Air Pet Nat Chenin Blanc 2017

A proud hardliner as the artwork on the front label suggests, which more often than not, has proven to be a red flag for what’s to come in the bottle. Fortunately, this was superb and the WOTN for me. Salty, fresh, and juicy. Needed some time to open up to reveal notes of pear, pineapple, candied ginger, and hints of almond meal. Dangerously drinkable. — 3 years ago

Great nose. Tangy cherry and citrus hints. Spice and earth. Clean. Vivid. Palate is juicy and clean with bright cherry fruit that saturates the palate and has a terrific hit of 15 opulence. Awesome sweetness and freshness. Showing so well today. — 6 years ago

Sexy fucking wine. Sexy is overused but I’d get in a hastily planned 3 month relationship with this wine that would end in bitter heartbreak. Gorgeous nose. Flowers, big cherries, lipstick vibe. Palate is ripe and opulent with lovely sucrosity and wonderful freshness. Silky tannins and great mouthfeel. Very 15 but also very alluring. Long finish. Wonderful mineral drive and very complex. Great today. — 6 years ago

Atmosphère Côtes de Provence Extra Brut Rosé 2014

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor David Newman is leading a live-to-picture performance of Leonard Bernstein’s score for “West Side Story”, originally directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, and with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
For live-to-picture productions, the orchestra performs the entire movie score in real time as the film unspools. (Vocals, dialogue and effects are isolated from the original music track.) The BSO installed very fancy and large LED screens on the perimeter of the Shed facing the Lawn, amazing!

Very nice light Salmon color. Nice fruit, 50% Cinsault & 50% Grenache. Very tasty, much better than their still rosé.

Nice Provence rose.
From the label:
COTES DE PROVENCE ROSE

Owned by the Quiot family from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the 200 acre estate lies at the foot of Mont Sainte Victoire near Aix-en-Provence. Its winemaking facilities have been completely renewed over the past 3 years.
This is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre.
Special efforts are made to preserve freshness and fruit by the use of CO2 gas to exclude oxygen during the harvest. This is a fresh rosé with a pretty salmon-pink color, elegant flavors of red berries, mineral notes and a clean finish. Serve this wine lightly chilled. Very nice on its own, it goes well with most dishes, specially sushi, salads, pizza and mild cheeses.

La Closerie Les Béguines Extra Brut Champagne Pinot Meunier 2014

Very yeasty on the nose with Granny Smith Apple notes and pronounced minerality. 94% Pinot Meunière 2% Pinot Gris, 2% Chardonnay, and 2% Pinot Noir. Wild fermented and aged 10 months in barrels; 2.5grams/Litre dosage. Only 13,000 bottles made so it is difficult to source in Australia. Consumed this Champagne in Zalto Burgundy glasses like I had been advised to do with Jacques Selosse, a close colleague of Jerome Prevost. As both of these producers say these are wines first and Champagnes second so why not Burgundy glasses. Finishes very dry with cleansing acid. LC14 - year of harvest. Good and different. — 6 years ago

Between the top three Champagne I can afford, it has always been. Zalto glasses are a must, once you try them you can't go back

@Ceccherini Cristiano Yes traditional champagne flutes may look good with the bubbles rising up but they make judging the Champagne difficult IMO. There appears to be a trend towards more traditional wine glasses when drinking Champagne.

@Bob McDonald I personally started drinking Champagne in standard shape glass about 15 years ago
It is indeed a spectacular wine and then a fizzy one. And if you are lucky enough you will meet again an evolution after it loses the bubble with time. Then you deeply realize you've always dealt with a wine

La Closerie Fac-simile Extra Brut Pinot Meunier Rosé Champagne 2009

Jerome Prevost Champagne is hard to find in Australia but his Rose is a rare beast indeed. None available this year for example. The year of harvest is found in the fine print beginning "LC". Colour is Salmon pink with a tinge of Bronze. Has the finest bead I have ever seen. Notes of strawberries, pepper and minerals. A fine wine in every sense of the word - an exercise in perfectly executed restraint. 100% Pinot Meunière. Most importantly my wife loved it on her Birthday !! — 9 years ago

@Aaron Tan Yes, reading about Jerome Prevost, he is an interesting character and similar in philosophy with another cult winemaker in Anselme Selosse. He spends a lot of time in the Vineyard tending to the soils with micro organisms, earth worms etc and banishing herbicides and encouraging deeper root systems towards the chalk and building minerality.

Nice wine at its prime drinking window (for my personal taste for aged wines). Nose of autumnal forest floor and earth, minerals and crushed mature berries with lively mouth feel and texture, perhaps just a bit one dimensional in a fading finish but an excellent GL 24 value back then especially given the current $ in the 50s. — 5 years ago

Lemelson Vineyards

Jerome Reserve Pinot Noir 2015

First impression- heavier than a regular cab and a little sour on the finish. But Still very good. This is Lemelson Vineyards 2015 Jerome Reserve pinot noir. Kapow Kapow and Kapow!!!!! There is a beautiful nose on this wine. Almost like cherry blossoms in the spring blowing in the wind. The beginning delivers big cherry and ripe plum flavors. Then rushes in the red licorice and earthy soil. Leather and gravel develop the finish into a dry and almost oaky finale. The sour finish from the initial taste is gone. It had to breathe a few minutes. — 6 years ago
