Functional Costco purchase @ $18.99. Delectable has this at $30. 🙄 Wouldn’t it be great for users & the app if we could buy wine through Delectable at more reasonable prices plus free shipping? Think of all the platform bugs Delectable could fix with the added revenue.

The nose shows; honeysuckle notes, ripe, ruby & sour lemons, overripe pineapple juice, dried apricots, yellow peach, touch of marmalade fruit, combo of white with shades of pink grapefruits, melted caramel, saline, limestone, soft, understated chalkiness, toasted nuts, candle wax, green leaves that are not quite eucalyptus, melted raw sugar, butterscotch notes with candied yellow lilies and a touch of mixed flower greens.

The body is; thick, full, round with high viscosity. Honeysuckle notes, ripe, ruby & sour lemons, overripe pineapple juice, dried apricots, yellow peach, tangerines, touch of marmalade fruit, combo of white with shades of pink grapefruits, melted caramel, vanilla, saline, white spice, limestone, dry, crushed volcanics, soft, understated chalkiness, toasted nuts, candle wax, warm toast, green leaves that are not quite eucalyptus, melted raw sugar, butterscotch notes with candied yellow lilies and a touch of mixed flower greens. The acidity is round and beautiful. The finish is; rich, ruby, elegant, well balanced fruit & earth and persists nicely for minutes.

Smashing with Turkish Dried Apricots.

Cheeses; Jasper Hill Alpha Tolman & Willoughby, Mimolette. Dried Turkish Apricots, Cashews & Columbus Italian Dry Salami. Otherwise, tonight’s dinner.

Currant and perfume on the nose with some vanilla and subtle saline minerality. Full bodied dark fruits, velvet on the tongue, great mouthfeel. Tight, moderately tannic, then a smooth prolonged finish.

Lavaux St. Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2010

Similar notes from April 2020 when I last had it. A red fruited nose giving a lovely earthy perfume with Sous Bois influences. Loam, compost heap nose. Same red fruits on the medium weight palate with strawberry and a touch of raspberry. As Jasper Morris said in his book, Lavaux St Jacques is one of the cooler sites in Gevrey Chambertin. This is always the last Rousseau wine to be picked and enjoying a longer hang time. After a couple of hours, just a gorgeous nose. — 4 years ago

@Ira Schwartz No the grapes were ripe. Delectable had put the vintage as 2011 which might have misled you. Now changed it to the correct 2010.

The body is; a touch waxy, full, rich, round, lush & gorgeous. Great viscosity, tangy & sour lemons, green apple skin, green apple Jolly Rancher, lime zest to candy, pineapple juice, underripe green melon, white peach, honeysuckle, honeycombs, some fresh, green herbs, white spices, caramel notes, hints of vanillin, cream, steely, flintiness, white spices, mint, saline, sea fossils, powdery chalkiness, limestone minerals, grey volcanics, river stones, tree bark w/ just a touch of sap, fruit blossoms, spring flowers, jasmine & yellow florals. The acidity is like a rushing, fresh water Colorado river. The long; gorgeous, sexy, polished, elegant, finely balanced finish is excellent wire to wire and persists minutes.

Beautiful wine & vintage. It’s about 3-5 years away from 94 & has 10-15 years of good drinking ahead. Properly stored of course.

Quite good with Lamb Chopper harder white cheese & Rustic Bakery Rosemary & Olive Oil Organic Flatbread & the Jasper Hill Willoughby soft white cheese with the Firehook flatbread crackers.

The nose reveals; lemon, lime, green apple, overripe pineapple, some some fruit, silvered almonds, honeysuckle notes, beeswax, wet river-stones, chamomile, orange peel, slight waft if dark caramel, soft vanillin, sea spray, light saline, warm toast, wet, soft chalkiness, touch of candied ginger, perfumed, spring flowers and fragrant yellow lilies.

The body is; thick, round, slightly waxy & voluptuous. 2010 is an excellent vintage and time in bottle has served it well. Striving to its peak, there is nice integration with honey qualities. Excellent texture/mouthfeel. Lemon, lime, green & golden apple, overripe pineapple, some some fruit, silvered almonds, honeysuckle notes, beeswax, wet river-stones, chamomile, butterscotch, orange peel, slight waft of dark caramel, soft vanillin, sea spray, light saline, warm toast, wet, soft chalkiness, limestone minerals, gritty, pungent, grey volcanics touch of candied ginger, touch of white spice, perfumed, spring flowers and fragrant yellow lilies. The acidity is round & phat. Like Goldilocks & her last porridge, it’s just right. The long; beautiful, voluptuous, sexy & well balanced finish is delicious and lingers on the palate minutes.

Playing very well into our Jasper Hill Farms Willoughby soft white cheese with champagne washed rind.

Coravined bottle from mid week.

The 2012 is still a little early for me but, drinking beautifully.

The nose reveals; ripe, slightly dried fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, dried dark cherries & cranberries, both plums, poached strawberries with some raspberries & blackberries. Radiant, dark spices, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, limestone minerals, dry crushed rocks, dark colas, steeped tea, black & red licorice, moist & drier clay, rich, forest floor with dry leaves, some dry herb, soft, understated eucalyptus, lightly, grilled meats, dry tobacco, well, used leather with ruby, candied, fresh & withering floral that are; dark, red, blue & purple.

Shows all the beauty of the vintage & still has 8-12 years of good drinking ahead.

Watson Ranch Chardonnay 2015

I am not the biggest fan of a lot of CA Chardonnays but, I have come to fully embrace Arnot-Roberts, this vintage & terrior.

This is not a wine you want well chilled...better just under room temperature. When well chilled, it loses too much of its beauty & sheer elegance. Shows more CA Chardonnay structure/backbone with big green apple. When it is cold it does pair better with the Lattebusche Piave Vecchio...a drier, harder cheese. When it warms, the best choice is the Jasper Hill Farms soft, full cream. white, Harbison.

After it has warmed & had about a half-hour of air, the nose is rounded, lush & ruby. Sweet & sour lemon, green & golden apple, overripe pineapple, guava, green melon, kiwi with skin, lime candy, caramel, gentle, white spice, just a glimmer of, herbaceousness, chalk, grey volcanics, melted, brown butter with yellow flowers/lilies, jasmine, spring flowers with mixed greens.

Just misses 94.

Emily's Paddock Shiraz Cabernet Franc 2003

Mid crimson in colour. Tarry savoury berry aromas. On the palate medium to full bodied with earth tar and liquorice ~ typical of mature Heathcote. Tannins resolved. The 15.5%ABV largely hidden. Amazing intensity and flavour considering its age - powerful in fact - also some sweetness. Jasper Hill largely contributed to putting Heathcote on the map. — 6 years ago

Domaine & Selection

Meursault Chardonnay 2007

Domaine Coche Dury is arguably the most sought after internationally of white Burgundy domains according to Jasper Morris MW in his tome “Inside Burgundy “. This wine had aromas of Lemon and Citrus flowers. On the palate Lemon juice - lean with mineral and M plus acidity. In hindsight should have left this last one for a few years. A wine of restraint and elegance - a tinge of honey after a while. For the Coche Dury village style only 25% new wood is used. This wine rarity was suggested to me years ago by a former owner of Prince Wine store and Burgundy nut Phillip Rich. Must seek out later vintages. — 7 years ago
