Very flavourful — 5 years ago
On the nose it’s Burgundy meets baking club. On the tongue it is pure luxury, the type that at first taste kinda turned me off but only because I’m not that much of an oak lover. But this wine is friggin’ fantastic. It lasts in the glass and I keep going back for more. It has the ability to be fresh and solidly traditional at the same time. One of the old souls? Don’t know if I’d go that far but I will continue to drink the insert-fave-expletive outta this. — 6 years ago
On the nose; ripe, ruby, floral; blackberries, blueberries dark cherries, black raspberries, caramel, mocha, vanilla, loamy soils, fresh, red florals and violets. The body is thick & full. Tannins are round and velvety. The fruit gorgeous and creamy in style. Dark currants; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, blueberries, raspberries. Mocha, medium intensity baking spices, cinnamon, vanilla, milk chocolate, loamy dry souls, violets, fresh red florals, beautiful round acidity. the structure length, tension are well executed well a balance polished finish. Photos of; the entrance to the Winery with a press on east side, Layered soil structure of their Dr. Crane Vineyard and the immaculate barrel room. — 7 years ago
Tasted blind. Ruby color. Almost opaque. Young fruit forward nose. Notes of plums, mocha, dark chocolate, coffee, cinnamon and some exotic thing like eucalyptus. So rich and vibrant in the mouth. A forever finish. This wine took us in all directions. Immortal. Stan's 60th will always be remembered for the 45 Latour vs 45 Mouton mano y mano battle. A wine life moment for sure. — 8 years ago
12' Pinot from SOS on the shelves at $19. Either they need to fire their manager or they're insanely charitable. I drank this out of a coffee mug and didn't once have a complaint. — 8 years ago
In the immortal (changed) words of 2 chainz “two get but got me a few on”.
I’ve had this vintage from theirs recently and it is quite fun. People generally guessed langue Nebbiolo (which is a guess I liked) and Mencia which is also a pretty good guess. Tastes a little stony and green which I love along with slightly round fruit notes. And a fair amount of acidity. I really like this for what it is and would once again, buy it again. But also because it’s hard to blind. — 5 years ago
Star bright straw gold. Inviting nose of quince and citrus rind. Medium-light palate leads with firm acidity introducing quince, citrus rind, and white pepper, all finishes up with smite stony acidity. A food wine to be sure — though some hearty souls may choose this as a “sipper” — and one that cries out for rich white wine fare. Potato crusted cod with white balsamic green beans was my choice. Meaningful bottle of wine. This was a gift to me from the 70th anniversary of D-Day. I’d like to thank the French Foreign Legion for making the wine. I enjoyed airdropping the French Foreign Legion and the 101 Airborne Devision from the U.S. on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. We are 75 years out now and I would love to commemorate the brave souls that took part on the D-Day invasion. God Bless you all. You are true heroes. 75 years out I commend the greatest generation. — 6 years ago
I’m beginning to enjoy the other varietals (than Malbec) produces in these Argentine Andean souls at high altitudes more and more. This 70% Cab / 30% Syrah blend is a lovely example of a refined mix giving intense new world character with the subtleties of old world wine making. The terroir comes thru in notes of gravel and rosemary. The fruit is big but it mildly dissipates in a most pleasant way. Drank it with a cheesy vegetable casserole with mushrooms and herbed garlic tomato sauce base... a great pairing! — 7 years ago
First off I use words from a theme of an immortal movie called Midnight Cowboy but modified to fit this post everybody talking at me - I can hear the words there saying - that is either a song for the insane or a cry for me to step up my game as my friends are crushing it lately with there wine choices of late
now that the wine is decanted for two hours and will be another hour before friends show up the first sip is so darn good / epic in fact - big bold and beautiful
Love the deep deep deep reddish color - tannins are so refined and the finish is exceedingly long that smiles are automatic
We have one more special wine tonight so stay tuned — 8 years ago
