A wine after my heart! This 2008 IGT was drinkable right out of the bottle but I decided to decant it for a few hours while I cooked dinner. Im glad I did--I was rewarded with an incredibly well-balanced wine. A smoky reddish robe envelops the glass while on the palette strong notes of red fruit, black coffee, leather, mint and dark chocolate. This wine reminds me why the Super Tuscans still provide the most bang for the buck. — 9 years ago
This Riesling is so complex, stone dry but also some roundness en velvety in the mouth. Glad to taste it's not the bone dry style from some years back — 10 years ago

Crisp apple ripe nectarine and bright citrus. Framed in well integrated oak. Full fresh and not at all overdone, as some chards can be. Quite nice! But im a fan of most avenel's wines — 11 years ago
Im a #musarwhore but damn this is in a particularly beautiful spot in only the way Musar can be. Dried red fruit and essence of amaro. A truly singular wine. — 11 years ago

First experience with The Rocks District. Interesting nose magic marker, black olive juice, new car leather, wet gravel. I wonder if thats common? Cherry up front on the palate with black olive and cocoa powder coming through. Tannin is all stucture without the grip or weight you might expect from a relatively young and intensely flavorful cab. Feels soft and plump but not heavy. Moderate acidity lends just enough freshness to the finish. Excited to explore more from this young ava, especially the syrahs! If anyone has reccomendations im all ears... — 9 years ago
Earthy, light body. Fast finish. Very nice. — 9 years ago
After years of drinking Italian, then Spanish, and sometimes French wine im surprised that I have never once considered what Swiss wine is like. Apparently Merlot is the primary red varietal. Nose is true to the grape. Very strong floral. Lemon and honey up front. It does have a very long finish. Good wine, great merlot. — 10 years ago
