Nice fruit in a dark red. I enjoyed it. — 7 years ago
The 2015 'Y' from Chateau D’YQuem is a head turning, simply brilliant blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The Sauvignon Blanc is harvested rather early in the growing season to retain its freshness, while the Semillon is given more time to mature and allow botrytis to take effect. The wine itself displays a lovely golden hue, and begins with an exotic bouquet consisting of star jasmine, honeydew melon, starfruit and lemongrass aromatics which all take shape. On the palate this possesses remarkable tension and viscosity, which is truly one of a kind as the mouthfeel takes on a sultry, unctuous character as lemon cream, kumquat, cantaloupe and roasted pineapple flavors all come together beautifully. It continues to impress with its gorgeous seamless quality and balance while showcasing the ripeness and intensity of the vintage. While this is already showing trememdous appeal it should go on to age exceedingly well over the course of the next two plus decades. This is a absolute gem from the legendary Château. My notes on this from May of 2017 still apply. Popped and poured. Drank well over two days. Immediately this wine impresses visually. Sure, the color is an expected deep garnet but what's most striking is the fact that it's never completely opaque at the core. You can just barely get the faintest amount of light to see through it. It's quite beautiful, really. The nose is initially a bit reticent but a few minutes of air in the glass does the trick and then it really begins to show off the most lovely perfume of mixed red and dark fruit; so fresh and pure with just a flash of garrigue. No perceptible heat on the nose. On the palate it's a veritable wonder of berries, Rainier cherries, black berry liqueur, and just a touch of fine white pepper. The body is perfectly proportioned and the finish lasts for over 30 seconds. In summary, this is an incredibly balanced 2010 CdP that is already hitting its prime. Personally, I felt it was really at its very best about two hours in which leaves me to believe it should be a great pop and pour for the next couple of years and potentially has the balance to be great for longer. That being said, there is no need to decant, just pull the cork, pour and enjoy the evolution in the glass. The hard part is allowing it to last for two hours and longer. It should be noted that this is dangerously quaffable wine and it wouldn't be hard to take the whole thing to the head. Might as well drink these sooner than later as I'm always a bit wary of CdP much beyond the 10 year mark, where I tend so find many of them fall apart on the palate. Perhaps others with more experience in the long-term ageing of CdP can chime in though. Absurd value at $30.
As a side note, this paired very nicely with pan fried pork savory bacon wrapped filet mignon. — 8 years ago

Very smooth, a little on the sweet side in a good way. — 6 years ago
Snow White frosting over vodka-cran colored beer with cirrus drifts. Cartoon stubble lacing. Raspberry, blackberry, grape-y with blood orange, dried orange, red grapefruit, hibiscus and citrus crowd. Lovely entry, reminiscent of bandol rose, with a suggestion of pink lemonade, bay, orange pith, lemongrass, and cardamom. Dry and satisfying in all respects. Carrots and cran-mint come to mind. Bouquet of grapefruit and tobacco. I can’t wrap my head around a wine vineyard in Lebanon, but I can see the French influence. Very much enjoying a rare treat from my maternal homeland — 7 years ago
Nice red blend, but a little “jammy.” Had in Gvl, with Dad over steak — 8 years ago
This was not only the WOTN but is definitely the WOTY for me. My head snapped back in utter amazement as soon as I enjoyed my 1st sniff of the nose. Holy mother of all wines is this bottle absolutely stunning and perfect. It's by far the best wine that I have had the privilege to enjoy. This is exactly what I was expecting from the famed 61!!!!!! It was simply perfect. A truly perfect example of what Latour is and what every Bordeaux blend in the world aspires to be. Utter perfection in its opulence & decadence: blackberry, black currant, intense & soaring aromatics. You could enjoy the nose at arms length!!! Simply & utterly stunning. One of my favorite fall beers. If only they sold it in Iowa! — 10 years ago
mountain of thunder indeed—in the zone and it would stay there for another decade (but not this bottle). The depth of flavor and cool menthol tame the wild layers of flavor. With a citrus center, it stays focused while providing a kaleidoscope of flavors. The texture is oh so soft as it lays on the palate and then just drives through into my brain. “Iron fist in a velvet glove” was used to describe claret but it works here. Grand cru in all but name, the finish may get me through the next two weeks of being dry. It just echoed. The term head spinning is apt. — 6 years ago
My favorite $20 wine in prep for Thanksgiving. Could drink every day, every season, always chilled. Yes that is Eddie Murphy’s head distorted through the bottle. — 7 years ago
The 'Que Bonito Cacareaba’ by Bodega Contador is a stunning effort in this vintage. The wine is a compelling blend of 50% Garnacha Blanca, 35% Malvasía, 15% Viura all sourced from head-trained vines gown in a mix of alluvial and calcareous soil from the districts of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Briones with Rioja Alta. Showing off a golden hue, this exudes a wide range of aromatics, from unripe nectarine to lychee to tangerine zest. The texture is polished and downright unctuous, yeilding flavors of bright pear, pink grapefruit zest, starfruit and lychee that all beautifully connect. This is bright yet highly rich and satisfying. A sensational effort by Benjamin Romeo. Drink 2019-2035- 94 — 7 years ago
Whoah ! Aged several years this is like a mellow tawny port. Raisins, prune, toffee, and tobacco. Put some of these away in your cellar and forget about them. — 8 years ago
Big - high alcohol, tons of fruit, oak, etc. A bit medicinal / vegetal that came across as slightly unintegrated. For me this needs a big fatty steak, ideally in a couple years after a long decent. — 8 years ago

Well, I never thought I would go from drinking a ranch water and a glass of White Zinfandel to a monumental vintage 1st growth Bordeaux. 🤷🏻♂️
When my 93 year old grandfather with dementia brings Chateau Margaux over for taco salad night, you just gotta do it....
Chills went down my spine as the scent of this wine hit me while I was pouring it in the decanter. Forest floor, wet leather, muddy earth, dried plums, and black cherries create a harmonious perfumed nose.
On the palate there was this truly amazing finesse and lightness that just stunned me. Black fruit, kirsch, light cocoa and leather hit you head on. After the fine grained tannins hit, there was this ever evolving finish that lasted for minutes. There was a slight minerality on the finish that was also extremely pleasing. Velvety, simply luxurious.
What an experience. Must say the pairing of the night was a little piece of candied ginger and a glass of this.... spectacular.
