Such an underrated DOC. To my taste, many exhibit a lower-toned earthy quality than the surrounding DOCs.

Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Really enjoyed this with pot roast. Seems to be at the right age. Still young fruit, and tannins are integrated if yet still strong. — 10 months ago

Söri' Valgrande Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2004

Fresh and dried cherries, roses, dry leaves, cinnamon, and blood oranges. HIGH acid and tannins—this needed salty and savory food to feel complete. (Still many years ahead of it!!) — 5 years ago

Marcarini Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2011

Still youthfully dark in color with a very slight browning on rim. Upon opening still very tight and shy on nose. Decided to decant this for 3.5h prior our Christmas dinner and it started to open around 3h mark. Then it was a great Barbaresco from Treiso offering slightly darker side of Nebbiolo expression with ripe cherry, some leather and smoke, fine pepper notes. Healthy acidity and fine tannins offers solid back bone for further aging and development. I take this is 2-3 years from peak and should continue to drink several years after that. Glad I have 2 more bottles. This was a fabulous qpr back then at 23€/bottle — 5 years ago

Lemon meringue and chalk. Complete and satisfying, balancing freshness and savor. Riesling-like energy. Always one of the most sophisticated Chardonnays from anywhere in Italy. #grasso #piemonte #chardonnay #langhe — 7 years ago

Riserva Piccola Emma Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2017

2017 vintage. Tasted with the winemaker. Slightly too smooth with this blend of three vinyards. Medium body. Some grip but slightly less than you'd expect. Pretty. Harmonious. Together and with it. No rush to crush. 03.19.25. — 9 months ago

Chianti Sangiovese Blend 2021

The historic low ratings are interesting. Would be a great wine to try a vertical tasting because currently they are using some French (I'm fairly sure sure it's French) oak that really gives it some pleasant aromas and a fine granular structure.
Certainly not a Classico - this is the new face/taste of Sangiovese from Chianti.

Paolina Barbera d'Alba 2015

Pop and pour. Lovely barbera. Nose shows mulberry leaf, plum, black raspberry. On the palate: excellent acidity, pomegranate, black raspberry, dried leaves, and just so juicy. No real tannin visible on the juicy finish. Yum. — 4 years ago

Asili Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

Medium+ garnet, with a tinge of orange-brown color around the rim. Raspberry and cherry nose, along with that pencil shavings smell. Second hour of air, secondary scents unfolded with some mint, spices and lightly roasted coffee beans. Feels quite Burgundian. Silky tannins. Not much gripping. Mid weight on the palate. Nice acidity; not overly tart. Surprisingly long. The taste lingered for quite a while. 91-92. — 7 years ago

Ginestra 'Vigna Casa Maté' Barolo Nebbiolo 2020

Sourced from 65 year old vines, sitting in rich clay soils. Medium Ruby with complex aromas of berry fruits, oak and fresh floral scents. On the palate dried tart cherry, tobacco, licorice, espresso and fresh herbs give this full-body wine grace and elegance. Soft fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit and earthy notes, well balanced, enjoyable now and has room to run over the next decade. Very Nice! — 9 months ago

Ghemme ai Livelli Nebbiolo 2015

Delectable Wine
9.3

Mazzoni's 2015 Ghemme Ai Livelli is gorgeous. Floral and savory notes infuse the bouquet with notable presence. Light on its feet, yet wonderfully layered, the 2015 is super expressive right out of the gate. There's quite a bit of complexity, while the tannins are nicely mellowed by time. That makes for an incredibly appealing wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2022)
