Such a contrast to 2016! 2014 was warmer and with 2 more years of bottle age, the wine is more fruit forward, more opulent and more balanced against the brooding, spicy character of Gibbston. Fabulous! — 7 years ago
This is almost wine of the year for me. Impeccably made, lovely balance, complex, gorgeous grapefruit and white peach, subtle hints of sandalwood and spice. The weight of the wine is sublime. 13.5 alc but it's so wrapped up in the overall product, there's no obvious heat. Sublime — 8 years ago
Stone fruits, dry pineapple, marmalade, white & yellow florals, honey, candied nuts, citrus, citrus blossoms, melon & delicate minerals. The body is thick & rich, has round acidity with a well polished finish. Photos of their cheese shop. If you like big stinky cheeses...this is your place. Barrel room and more amazing vistas the other side of Queenstown. — 9 years ago
Smooth herbs, delicious — 5 years ago
All beef, mushroom, alspice, and balsamic strawberry. Very Morniingron, but the power and strength could easily be confused with. A Gibbston Valley.. — 5 years ago
More spice and less full fruit character than Central/Gibbston expression.. nose says plum but palate is dominated by Sour cherry giving freshness. Tasted back to back with the Etna, this lost bigtime. — 6 years ago
Fresh, lighter and more high toned than all the other Gibbston pinots. More red than black fruit. Won wine of the year in 2011. Balanced and quite elegant. — 7 years ago
Really lovely. Rich fruits, but balanced with Central Otago earthiness. Just perfect. — 7 years ago

2014 vintage drunk in 2020. Very smooth and sweet. — 5 years ago
Dark and luminous. On the nose, this is a dead ringer for a big Gibbston Valley pinot. Red and black fruit, cherry, but the spice is the overriding trait. A very spicy cherry character with lovely silky mouthfeel. Broad but a little less structured and a bit shorter than a Valli or Gibbston Valley, but at $52, much better value. — 6 years ago
Made from oldest vines in Otago grown around the cellar door - all of 35yrs old! By far the most complex of the single vineyards. More elegant, and less tannic but still packs a punch. Lots going on here, but yet to unfurl — 7 years ago
Nice herbal spice, very gibbston — 8 years ago
On the nose, dark fruit profile of; blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, cherries, poached strawberries, dry dark florals, dark soils with light volcanic minerals. On the palate, M-M+ tannins, black raspberries, raspberries, black cherries, blackberries, cherries, poached strawberries, black licorice, sweet lifting spices, strong; clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanilla, blue fruits round out the longer finish, big chalkiness, some leather & volcanic minerals. The tannins soften & fruits lean on the longer finish with good round acidity. Photos of another vista outside Queenstown, long shot of the tasting room and outside garden grounds. — 9 years ago

Very spicy savoury character. Smells like a Gibbston Valley monster. Doesn’t quite have the purity and weight of otago’s best, but still attractive sweet savoury spice with umami, and cedar on entry. Good bite of acid in mid palate gives some length and interest. — 5 years ago
