Rayas! Is there a better CDP on the planet? I actually like some of the off vintages better than the RP high scorers. My favorite vintage is the 2000 which is so Burgundian like and served blind has fooled a few MS's for GC Burgundy. The 96 also follows the same traits where you don't have the hot, ripe traits of the 03 & 07. Rayas is a standout of its peers and will always have a place in my cellar. — 9 years ago

Light/medium yellow in color. Requisite nose of shell and sea. Citrus, chalk, peach and flowers. Good acidity and medium finish showing minerals. Drinks well at a nice PVR for GC Chablis. — 9 years ago

Has that lovely aromatic thing that GC burgundy has that Cali pinots just don't. Firmly structured still, ruby in the glass, and perhaps a little foursquare overall for GC, but still a beauty. Some wines age like Anne Bancroft, and some a bit more like Kathleen Turner. — 9 years ago

It's been many years since an older Leflaive has actually impressed me, between mediocre vintages, major premature oxidization, flabbiness, non-intergrated oak handling, just all-round letdowns, especially for the price. This ones surprisingly a really great example of aged GC Burgundy, beautiful oak intergration, classic spent coffee grinds I get on older French whites, a great bottle. — 9 years ago

Krug GC with 2002 base wine from Jero at Harry's Bar for the annual Soprano's dinner. The colour was a gorgeous pale gold. Small persistent bubbles. On the nose, roasted almonds, burned toast, brioche, roast apples - deep and complex. On the palate, perfect blend of high, crisp acidity, medium alcohol and depth of flavour. The toasty brioche dominates the mid palate and leads to a very long finish. This is one of the best young GC's I have had and will drink now until 2036. A — 9 years ago
