Strawberries, blood orange rind, watermelon, satsuma mandarins, iron, smoke. Snapping acidity, light bodied, juicy texture, tangy-salty-slightly off dry yet crisp finish. Mon dieu! This wine has an incredibly mineral-flushed nose, almost minty from all the whetstony chloride-alkaline minerals! Light ruby slightly hazy in color; medium-high acids and fine tannins, red fruit-dominated and perhaps a bit disappointing on the finish. Try in 3-5 years?! A phenomenal vintage for FWG! Amazingly pale for its age, with a very finely honeyed nose of apricot blossom, white rose petals, and lime leaves. Fabulous acidity and amazing freshness. Only delicately sweet; perhaps some has dropped off with age. The perfect start to the meal! — 9 years ago
