It’s Pet Nat season and it seems like everyone in California is making one these days. This Zin & Sangio refresher from Madson (Santa Cruz Mountains) has quickly become a favorite of mine. Smells like geraniums. Mouthwatering acidity, ripe peach, watermelon rind, guava. The fruit and florals are just so pretty, vibrant and distinctive. Strong, robust, fearless. This wine once attacked a lion just to say it did. Smell of tobacco, leather, alcohol and Earth. Definitely taste the alcohol all the way, which totally works for such a powerful wine. Would go amazing with red meat. — 6 years ago

Very interesting to taste this pitted against the Sandhi Pinot posted just previously. Similar in so many ways yet so different! Foraged strawberries, earth, rosewater. Tannins with a light grip like a partner lightly squeezing your palm during a horror film even though they claimed to be fearless. Bright, restless acidity. Smart and worldly.
