Steve Peck- If Paso Robles had a sister city among European wine regions, it could very well be Jumilla, Spain. Both are known for 50 degree diurnal temperature swings and calcareous soils. The wines are incredibly ripe and juicy if this example from Gil Family is typical. 70% Monastrell (aka, Mourvèdre), 30% Cabernet. This wine walks the line between the unctuous Rhone genre and the tightness of Bordeaux. Huge fruit volume with a rounded palate. Label declares 16%, but you would never guess it. I'm impressed. — 8 years ago

Alive, fresh and stunning.
Medium bodied, core of bright fruit in the center with a meaty exterior. Soy sauce. Cassis. Incredible. Birthday dinner with friends and an amazing line up of wines.
