Falletto Rabaja' di Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2014

Still super young. 7 hour decant started to open. Great acidity and concentration of flavor with very early tertiary notes emerging. Color gives away age but that is. Hold until at least 2031 before trying again. Estimated optimum window 2036-2050 — 2 years ago

Beautiful drinking Giacosa that was floral & elegant showing red cherry, leather, sweet tobacco, licorice spice & rose petal. Fully mature that should drink well for many years — 8 years ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2017

2017 vintage.
Bright ruby colour.
Raspberry, dried dark flowers, tar and tobacco.
It has a floral and freshness.
Dried cherries, truffles, sweet spices and menthol.
Rustic with earthy richness.
Harvested in 4 sites. Rive in La Morra, Scarrone in Castiglione di Falletto, Baudana and Broglio in Serralunga.
I had a kilo of local fresh Matsutake mushrooms and made risotto with compound truffle butter.

Barbera d'Alba Superiore 2019

Fresh, juicy, uncomplicated Barbera from 15-20 years old vines in Castiglione Falletto and La Morra. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak for 16 months. Bright ruby color. Red fruit and earthy notes. Medium-bodied, tart red fruit (sour cherry, strawberry) on the palate. Light tannin, racy acidity. — 5 years ago

Bright raspberry aroma. On palate, also, with spring flowers, minerals, hint of almond. Has acidity and balance to continue enjoying for 2-3 more years — 6 years ago

Falletto di Serralunga D'Alba Barolo Nebbiolo 2014

Way too much new oak and feels overextracted. Can’t get past the oak on the nose and hides the fruit on the palate at this point. — 8 years ago

Birthday wine tasting-not a bad bottle in the bunch! We had two mags of this and well. It was disappointing. Not a lot of fruit or structure. They weren’t shot just sort of there. It really stood out against the Conterno and flaccianello — 8 years ago

Give it plenty of time in the glass or ideally in a decanter. It is a beautiful wine that needs time to open. Great effort in an off year. — 3 years ago

A lot of wine in one glass. Full, foot-on-the-gas dark red fruit, but went down easy. A little hairy chested for Sunday night pizza, but fun nonetheless. — 5 years ago

Villero Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

Delectable Wine
9.3

Fenocchio's Barolo Villero is quite sensual and inviting in 2015, which is probably a reflection of the year, as wines from this Castiglione Falletto site tend to be quite reticent, especially when young. Spice, menthol, licorice, dried flowers and pine grow with time in the glass. The Villero is another impressive, showy wine in this lineup. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2019) — 7 years ago

Castiglione Falletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2008

Tobacco, leather, dark dark cherry, blueberry, wild mushroom on the nose. Medium/strong tannins. Excellent smooth finish. Bright cherry (typical Italian), Coca-Cola, dark chocolate on the palate. Barolo is Barolo. It rarely disappoints and this certainly is a fine example. — 9 years ago
