Wednesday Wine Committee hosted by Dan. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. Tasted blind as usual.
The aromatics here had me thinking Charles Heidsieck. Picking up the Reserve wine was easy as it had an oxidized/toffee-nougat driven nose. 90% is from ‘06, the remaining from ‘04 and ‘05. I guessed NV French champagne with Reserve wine base. — 6 years ago

Jean-Louis et Fabienne Mann.. Not Albert! Biodynamic offers a very good perspective on alsacian terroirs, especially on warm vintages. This pinot gris offers a good example; dry with mouth watering finish. — 10 years ago
This is really nice. Forgot what I paid but these wines are usually $13 all day long. Just a nice sipper. Buy it if you can find it. 90 points. — 5 years ago
Just had a small taste, but very impressive. Petrol, honey, and acid. — 6 years ago
So bony and austere. Acid is off the charts. Love it. — 7 years ago
This has put on a surprising amount of weight since release, when it was more juicy and bony. Now the fruit has taken on darker tones and a thicker, more gummy texture. In fact it was almost grapey at first but settled down into a more of a "pinotette" profile, with some of the stony / granite personality that makes Carquelin such a notable site. It does still have a slight sizzle of co2 that was hidden under the fruit at first but made this feel a little sharper as the fruit mellowed. — 9 years ago
So bizarre but I dug it. Really savory wine. Smelled very herbal — 10 years ago
This thing is like a merengue cookie after you get through the citrus zest and gum arabic candy crust. There is a tangerine characteristic, that turns into tangerine pith, and has a powdered sugar millisecond before becoming bony and rich. This thick little lady is bumping in every respect! — 10 years ago
Dry. Hay. Delicious. — 5 years ago
I give this a rather high ratings for my standards, it really came through in terms of what I was hoping g to get from it. A quite minerally, stony bony dry finish, yet a nice bit of funkiness and a raw feeling yet well made. Quite light, had it with seafood, paired really well IMO. — 6 years ago
Wonderful dry blend crisp and fruity — 8 years ago
Bollinger's NV Brut Rosé is unfettered elegance, with a shimmering salmon robe and ultra-fine mousse, the nose displays freshly macerated strawberries and raspberries, rose petals and spice. It's all neatly corseted modest toast, with creaminess at the mid-palate lending depth and weight, softening an otherwise be a bony spine. There is minerality here too, but it's discreet. — 9 years ago
Amazing desert wine. Unexpected gem at the Jefferson. — 10 years ago

"The population of Faugéres appelation is 3000...and the wine production is still under 100000 liters. That's less than 330 liters per person, which, at a litre a day, doesn't leave much room for exports. Still, you can occasionally find the reds washed up on distant shores...the red has the bony structure of vin de garde beneath a costume of sunmer fruit that flutters charmingly in its own endogenous breezes."
