Diverse #wine. #Nebbiolo from #Roero. Closed, cloudy and smelling of robust cherries, and bacon fat, oil. Opened up to soft pink flowers, candy apple shell, wet soil. Color is slightly cloudy as unfiltered, bright red throughout from edge to edge. Everything opened over an hour. Flavors of soft strawberry, marachino cherry, candy apple, sweet/sour sauce, smooth. Tannins never explode, but stay moderate, harmonious with acidity. Opened 1/22/17 — 9 years ago
Botan rice candy, butterscotch, mint, green almonds — 10 years ago
Great with big bold chile verde tacos. — 11 years ago
Barbaresco albeisa 2010
This Nebbiolo has a very light smokey aroma, with bright red current, cherry jolly rancher candy, porcini mushroom and black licorice.
Firm tannins and really nice acidity.
Could use another 5 year in the bottle.

Apple, lemon candy, honey, hay, slate, oak and hints of dried apricot. Good acidity and balance. — 9 years ago
Loved it. They have great colorful tops. Super tasty. 11.5% — 10 years ago
1990: Corked, unfortunately. My mom had the best line, "It sure tastes better than it smells!" I recall what it was like on release, hard candy sweetness with a surprisingly light framework, particularly compared to both the '88 & '89 on release, and the crazy depth of the'90 Ch. Filholt Creme de tete, which was massively concentrated. This bottle still had oomph, yet wasn't all there. — 11 years ago
Deep purple coloration. Cassis and a sweet, candy like cherry nose. On the palate a nice body, caramel, cherry, and a long finish on the 2008. The sweetness is balanced nice with tannins. — 11 years ago
Very good, fruit but not too sweet. — 12 years ago
Time to celebrate. Here's a wonderful wine for the occasion.
Deep inky in color with no rim whatsoever.
Beautiful nose of vanilla, soaked cherries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, figs, oak, leather, smoke, spices, wildflowers, candy corn and white pepper.
Full-bodied and bold, with a great mouthfeel, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and great looking legs.
Fruity and dry on the palate, with blackberries, blueberries, figs, raisins, red licorice, tobacco, smoke, beef jerky, cloves, spices, earth and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm, yet smooth, tannins and cherries.
This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from the house of the Wagner family. Very enjoyable by itself as a sipping wine, on the porch, or with a big piece of steak.
Smooth and elegant with a great mouthfeel. Chewy and jammy, balanced and approachable. Will drink nicely in the next decade or more. Great wine, great vintage.
Needed two hours in a decanter to open up properly.

This 03 is like candy. It has all the blue fruits imaginable, plums, blackberries, black raspberries and black cherries. They swirl over your palate. There's soft sweet spice, black cherry/berry cola, liquid violets, crushed volcanic minerals that are so delicate and delicious it's hard to call them minerals, rich semi-sweet black earth, sweetened black tea, leather as if it were dessert & dry stems. The acidity is amazingly perfect. Tannins are very resolved...like light dust. The structure, length, balance & light tension are in perfect harmony. The finish is; ripe, round, lush, elegant & sings on the palate nor does it end. The only knock you could give this wine is that for some it might be a little too sweet. Another five years plus in the bottle, it's sweetness will soften enough for those who might say that. I'll be getting a few more of these at $60 and trying it again in five years. This 03 reminds me of an 82 Bella Oaks I had out of magnum a few years ago and that was stunning. This just hasn't had that kind of time in the bottle yet. — 9 years ago

This run of about 13 PHENOMENAL wines I'm posting are from the SQN wine dinner/WNH interview I did at @Shawn R 's house last night. I was like a kid in a candy store on Christmas. What an absolutely EPIC night! Love ya brother!
What kind of world do we live in where we use THIS as a palate cleanser?! Haha. So insane. I'm late to the Aubert train but this was actually my first Pinot from them (love their chards). Big cherry cola aroma, red licorice and graphite on the nose too. Excellent acidity and a finish of tart cherry and blackberries. — 9 years ago
