@Paul Treadway again thank you for being so generous. — 8 years ago

I know these guys are pretty hands off in the winery, but this was a bit to big and bold for my palate. It did open up over the course of the afternoon, but still concentrated and very fruit driven, with little meatiness. Maybe it needs more time? — 10 years ago

This is the best American Syrah I’ve had and possibly the best syrah period. And I’ve had a lot of syrah’s including multiple vintages of Grange. — 7 years ago

I purchased this Sparkling Rose almost as an afterthought while on a wine buying trip in the States. Not expecting much at $15.00 USD as my wine consultant suggested that I pickup a couple of bottles. Wow was I pleasantly surprised. This Loire Valley Cabernet Franc reflects the clay regional soil in its minerality, clean, crisp dry taste. With a near perfect balance of acidity and sugar, hints of the local Aunis grape, perfect effervescence presents a beautiful exposition of citrus and Rose buds flavours on your palate. I most certainly will be adding this under the radar gem to my collection. Enjoy. — 10 years ago

The Colas Robin vineyard was planted with Pinot Blanc in 1955 by Robert Piollot, just up the road from the domaine in Polisot. This was the first standout parcel, with it’s exceptional southeast exposition, red-clay and limestone soil, the resulting Champagne clearly demonstrates why the local name for Pinot Blanc is Pinot Vrai, or real Pinot. Pinot Blanc was never planted in the Marne, so the big houses snubbed the grape from the Aube, and 100% Pinot Blanc cuvées are rare. This is the one of the finest ones out there – a very floral, vibrant wine (that was mentioned in Eric Asimov’s NYT recent article about Pinot Blanc) — 10 years ago

This brilliant Barolo from Gaja is the best exposition of the new style — 10 years ago
A brut Rose with freshness; excellent exposition from the Cote des Bar region of Champagne; enjoyed at Le Jardin in the Chateau des Crayeres; #sergemathieu #champagne #cotedesbar #lejardin #rosé #drinkchampagne #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtour #france2015 #2013 — 10 years ago
A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvèdre, aged in tank, barrel and large foudre.
Caillou’s Côtes du Rhône vineyards are essentially the same, in terroir and exposition, as its Châteauneuf vineyards.
Dense, rich red fruit with a well-balanced structure that leaves a pretty lovely, long finish. Old vine Carignan seems to be making all the difference in the world. — 11 years ago

True to site and vintage, ‘08 raciness is rounded by the southern exposition of Valmur. Very earth driven Chablis; wet mushroom, damp soil, chalk. A slightly more oxidative style of winemaking captures that more opulent yellow fruit well, adds more breadth to the palate. 80 year old vines I’m told. — 7 years ago
