Starting my 3 week exploration of Portuguese wines with this entry level white from Alentejo.
A blend of Arinto, Verdehlo, Gouveio, Alvarinho and Viosinho aged partially in concrete and partially in used wood.
Golden in colour with green reflexes. Nice character, southern in style, a bit (nicely) rustic with ripe lemons, dried herbs, a bit of white peach. A touch of spicy, waxy, smoky notes. Rich, savoury and fresh.
On the palate this is medium bodied, with nice balance & freshness. Good depth & length and suitable for late afternoon terrace sipping but also will hold its weight with food.
A very nice effort. — 2 months ago
Nice & broad nose with ripe lemons, green melon, a bit of pear & yellow apple plus a healthy pinch of dried herbs and a dose of sea salt. Fresh despite the breadth & quite enticing.
Nice mouthfeel, slightly creamy, with a bit of breadth & presence but also good depth & nice purity. Exotic yellow fruit fill the frame with juicy, fresh, salty acidity. Live the very long finish.
A nice one and brilliant with grilled fish! — 2 months ago

A very fresh & vibrant Portuguese red… blend of, what else-Portugese varietals including Touriga Nacional & Alicante Bouschet. Oftentimes I found Portuguese reds to be rather meh, as if the blends tone down the more interesting ruffles, but not this. Red fruits to its core, low-ish tannin, with a vibrant young snap- obviously the fruit & its vibrancy are on display. Bought & drank on the island of Madeira, so that probably helped (or influenced) my experience. — 3 months ago
