Wonderful taut wine. The fruit pops on the mid-palette and the finish is clean with a slight tang. Had it with a maple-miso roasted salmon and it was spot on, and had it with some sous vide short ribs (with a reduction of this same wine) and it stood up nicely. — 8 months ago

Good price point. Sweetness like a dry reisling. Nice fruity notes of pear and some citrus. Pale yellow with mild fruity and vanilla aromas — 6 years ago

Blend of mostly Tempranillo with about equal amounts of Garnacho, Graciano and Manzuelo, deep Ruby with a graceful bouquet of berry fruits, cigar box spice with fresh earthy tones, a traditional Rioja, still reticent. On the silky smooth palate, elegant with layers of flavors of ripe blackberry and cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, very well balanced with fine soft tannins and a clean structure ending with a nice long chalky earthy character. Golden syrupy sweet but finishes dry with plentiful acid. May not improve. — 10 months ago
There’s depth and “cut” to it that invites more comparisons to its Burgundy cousins than its German ones, so give it 30 minutes or so in a decanter before diving in: Serve it at a cool 60 degrees in Burgundy stems and you’ve got one of the most versatile reds for food one could possibly ask for. This will sing with a wide range of proteins, from salmon all the way up to beef, but I can’t resist an old-school Alsatian pairing—tarte flambée. Smoky bacon, creamy cheese, crisp crust…that’ll work for me! Enjoy! — 5 years ago
You have to understand that not many wines ( well, that’s a bit bombastic) give me more pleasure consistently than this, the most recent release-2010! From Calabretta . Kinda like Lopez de Heredia meets Vallana, ie Nebbiolo, though it is Nerollo Macalese. Smoked, tar, roses, fine & integrated tannins on the palate- strong mid palate which in my imagination has gotten stronger with age. Super lithe and really ethereal body- light, light to medium body but gorgeous acid spine, strong presence. Not a light wine. Bought a case or so a while ago-I fear the day I am down to one. Warm, lush, peppery with cherry and fruit. Wonderful wine. — 7 years ago
Delicious pet-nat, from Tabula Rasa's wine flight. Honey, crisp, and so bubbly. The vintner plows his vineyards with horses! — 8 years ago
One of my faves. The unique iodine taste of a Spanish rioja paired beautifully with the duck. Wow. — 4 months ago
Honey sweetness that's not overpowering, a round pleasing body with low acidity, perfect for dessert pairing or alone. — 3 years ago
Apricots, honey and a touch of citrus. — 5 years ago
