Estate Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, from Monte Bello Vineyard, deep Ruby with purple edges, aromas of dark berry fruits, sweet spice and toasty oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry, black cherry and ripe blueberry with vanilla, cedar and tobacco. Fine defined tannins, long finish ending with fruit, toasty and earthy notes. Nice! — 12 days ago

Cloudy Bay

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Pale lemon color with aromas of citrus and tropical fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of grapefruit, green apple and pear fruit flavors, some grassy tones, lively acidity. Medium+ finish ending with fruit, herbal, floral, grassy and mineral notes. Lightly chill so you can experience all of the nuances while you sip this fine wine. Nice, consistent. — 22 days ago

Ridge Vineyards

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1997

Final holiday season bottle. Our last bottle of the 97. What a wine. This bottle was probably slightly below the one we had last year but obviously still such a treat. Only 12.9% - love it! Cork broke but the Durand saved it. Dark fruit aromatics are off the charts. Doesn’t have the stinky leather of a top Bordeaux, but still obviously in the same family. Wonderful pairing with some tenderloin with a mushroom sauce. Finish is very long and though it doesn’t have the refreshing quality of the last bottle we had still delicious.

Pulled a bottle of 09 as well and need to decide when to drink it.

Peter Martin Ray Vineyard Chardonnay

Buttercup gold core with light green tones to the edges, and a medium body with nice long legs. The nose is reminiscent of salt air, with apricot pastry and notes of florals, maybe orange or lemon blossom, layered beneath. The salinity is prominent on the palate, but fades in the middle, revealing green figs, cumquat, apricot, some vegetal notes, almost dry wood like, with definitely some lightly present oak, but a silky, glazed pastry like finish that lasts and lasts. A beautiful and restrained representation that pretty much could be old world if you weren’t paying attention. — 5 days ago
