Saw an ‘06 on a wine list and grabbed this 12 year-old beauty. Mike Grgich 1st gained international recognition at the celebrated "Paris Tasting" of '76 where a panel of eminent French judges were shocked they chose Mike’s '73 Montelena Chard as the finest white wine in the world! Elegant, rich berry fruit aromas, licorice notes. On the palate blackberry & cherry, bits of cacao and cinnamon, soft fine tannins. Lingering finish ending with soft oaky notes. Opened quickly and drank beautifully. — 8 years ago
In 2005 Marie and Frédéric Chauffray came across the perfect plot of land—25 acres on the plateau of Arboras in Terrasses du Larzac, situated in the Langeudoc. They sold the prestigious wine shop they owned outside Paris and embarked upon the dream of making wine, together founding Domaine de La Réserve d'O. Berry fruit and cacao notes. Cherry and mocha with spice and fine tannins. Lingering finish with ending with mineral notes. — 9 years ago
Sitting in Paris with my best buddy for the launch of 2016 Beaujolais Nouveau's and gawking over the flavour complexities and softness of this beautiful bottle - I LOVE FRANCE — 10 years ago
Raspberry and bright fruit that fades into herbal flavors and some of the carbonic good good. — 10 years ago
Surprised this wasn't more tannic - thought it was very well structured with dark jammy fruits and bell pepper on the nose (actually didn't find the pepper notes unpleasant at all, which I typically steer clear of). Black fruits, charcoal smoke, cracked black pepper all hit high with some light hints of licorice and...jalapeño? All in all a pleasant wine to pair with a homemade Beef Wellington on this anniversary year of the Judgement of Paris. — 10 years ago
Great richness and balance of butter and acid. Paired perfectly with roast chicken. — 11 years ago
Had this wine a ton in Paris, and tastes just as good in the US! Extremely smooth with nice tannins. Perfect combination of earthy tones and spice. Great value! — 11 years ago

Pet Nat delish with apple pear and loads of yeast. Doesn't hurt that I'm in Paris. — 9 years ago
Class act at the Legion of Honor to see Degas, Impressionism and the Paris Millinery Trade. Black pepper, cassis. Mineral, savory. With pork stew. #seasonchange — 9 years ago
This is the 3rd wine from Chateau Margaux. Expressive nose of licorice and truffle. Tasted of cassis with silky tannins. Finish was short at first but gave more with time in the glass. Drank with chicken and white asparagus at Restaurant Pages in Paris. — 9 years ago

RIP to the late Zlatan who passed a month ago.
Zlatan Otok is one of my favourite wineries in Croatia. I appreciate every single one of the wines that I've tried but that said, this Zlatan Otok 2010 Crljenak is my absolute fave.
In 2001 a research, funded by Mike Grgich of Judgement of Paris fame, on the origin of Zinfandel came to fruition. It confirmed that Zinfandel and Primitivo came from Croatia. Unfortunately at the point of discovery, the vines of Crljenak in Croatia was near extinction. Today, only a handful of Croatian wineries still produce this wine. As far as I've tried, the Zlatan Otok 2010 Crljenak is the best representation of this variety.
Notes: Colour is dark garnet with some clarity. On the nose, I get cboth red and black fruit, white and black pepper, slightly perfumey like amber and musk. The palate reflects exactly what's on the nose, carried off by vibrant acidity and prominent minerality. Tannins are slightly coarse but sweet, which means it should be aged in the bottle for a while longer but ready to be enjoyed now. What I love most is how it opens up and expresses itself on the palate like a triangle--from narrow and shy to wide and lively. This Crljenak has lighter body than most Californian Zinfandel.
The final conclusion: Yes please! It's slightly cheaper than Lytton Springs, and I'm getting more pleasure from this. — 10 years ago

Lovely, mild bouquet, smooth and suave in the palate, light yet full of personality. Had the 2014 vintage at Les Éditeurs, Odéon, in Paris. It would improve in a few years. — 11 years ago
Had at Verre Vole in 10e in Paris

Product of Fred Cossard

slv vineyard the famous wine of the 1976 paris tasting — 13 years ago
Our first Morgon and oh, so good! The first bottle didn’t make it past the appetizer, so we had another. Explosive aromas of dark berry, violets and a little orange peel coax you to sip, again and again. A long supple finish, tinged with spice and a lovely sweetness. Delicious. Last night in Paris. South tomorrow! — 8 years ago
From a magnum purchased in Paris on release. When viewed in the decanter no signs of age. This is a wine that has a little bit of everything both on the nose and the palate . Earth, funk, red fruit, plums, spice, leather, and cigar box. All of these elements are showcased and supported by an abundance of tannin and acid. Powerful but silky. Hands down the best 1998 CDP I have tasted . — 8 years ago
L: plum, maroon in color. A: alcohol, dark almost ripe red fruits. T: all the ripe red fruit. M: soft throughout and finishes dry with a touch of oak/wood on the back end. O: lovely. — 9 years ago

Apéritif to what was about to be a stunning dinner @ Saturne in Paris. Best Schueller I have had so far. Rich and complex riesling, with a rim of beautiful aging tones (yes, some petrol as well). Wine of the night! — 10 years ago
Ethereal beauty out of mag. Never had this producer. Magnificent. — 11 years ago
Dining room at LA SOCIÉTÉ in Paris. First bottle of French wine on day one of trip. Not disappointed — 11 years ago
2011 vintage. It might have been the surroundings of a Michelin 3-star restaurant in Paris that made this wine seem so ideal...nah, it was good. Young and a bit tight at first, but opened up to reveal its many layers. — 12 years ago
Mike Saviage

From a Paris bistro list. Dark ruby and opaque in the glass. Attention grabbing nose. Notes of black cherry, iron and graphite, earth and some menthol. Silky and rich in the mouth. Palate staining. Outperformed my expectations. — 7 years ago
