Morning Dew Vineyard Pinot Noir

Where am I? Somewhere in Quarantini. Who are you drinking with? My sweetie & listening to the Mamas & the Papas. All this is a metaphor for Molly Drew’s 2018 Morning Dew Pinot Noir. Lovely. Even before the pandemic. Much better now. Cheers! — 4 years ago

Mid-Elevation Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir 2018

The cherry cola flavor typical of pinots from this region is only very slight, which is a good thing! Very terroir driven, with a bit of graphite! — 4 years ago

This was young but very well received at our Pinot and Persian party. It went very well as a start to the evening. — 6 years ago

Perli Vineyard Potato Patch Syrah

Bold and beautiful. Deep red color, slight tang on the tongue. Fruit forward on the nose and palate. Very nice to enjoy on a Sunday afternoon paired with some meat and cheese. #redwine #syrah #wineonmytime — 7 years ago

Valenti Ranch Syrah 2015

At a Mendocino wedding stumbled on this tasting room a few years back. Brought this home and last night, well, WOW. More of a Grenache gestalt than Syrah after 90 minute decant, pure and layered red bright berry, some bay leaf. Wish I had another bottle to see how this ages. — 4 years ago

Ornbaun Mendocino Ridge Syrah 2016

84% Syrah with some Grenache, Mourvèdre and Viognier. 50% whole cluster, neutrally oak. Straight up cool climate Syrah character, even with the G&M. Brambles and dark berries. Savory characters and spiciness hit the palate first. A slight citrus acidity (cool climate Grenache my guess) comes through, white pepper, olive tapenade, tart red and blue fruit. Quite lovely - wishing for just a tad more mid-palate to round it out a bit, but a pretty wine that should be intriguing with age. — 5 years ago

Stinky soapy nose completely blew off with 30 mins in decanter. Beautiful cherry Cola, nice structure and a great long rich finish. This is the vineyard and vintage that drew me to Sta. Rita Hills more than a decade ago and this Ojai bottling is bringing me back. — 6 years ago

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Solid garnet in color. The nose was fresh despite the age; floral with red fruit emanating from the glass. Medium bodied with red currant, wild strawberry, white pepper and vanilla. The finish drew small rings of smoke and flint but was relatively short. — 4 years ago

On the nose, baked & slightly liqueured fruits of; lots of blue fruits, plum, black raspberries, raspberries, underbrush, saline, violets, and dry brown top soil. On the palate, concentrated blue fruits of; boysenberries, blueberries, olallieberries. Stewed plums, black raspberries & raspberries. They are in a liqueured syrupy state. The tannins are silty. Wild berry cola/licorice, underbrush, touch of vanilla & caramel, loamy dry soils, steep fruit tea, dry stones, liquid violets & the acidity pours over the palate. The rich, thick, fruity finish doesn't stop. It's drinking very nicely but likely peaked a year ago. However, still a nice example of how well his wines age. Photo tour of our April visit to Noon Winery. Winery, estate vines, open top fermenter and Drew Noon pouring our tasting. He is a very down to earth/salt of the earth guy. Thanks again for all the time you gave to us. @ Gary Danko with Filet and chocolate soufflé. — 7 years ago
