Joseph Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2018

Last of 3 bottles. Ripe black cherries. Medium plus bodied. Great volume in the mouth. The second night, notes of raspberry. As stated in previous notes the ripeness of the fruit would lead one to think this could be new World. — 10 months ago

La Framboisiére Monopole Mercurey Pinot Noir

I took no notes but very good bottle in a more classical register, albeit less "clumsy" than in prior times. Good stuff and requires a few more years.

Joseph Faiveley Meursault Chardonnay

Ik denk m’n eerste Meursault….

Bevalt goed! Hier kan ik wel aan wennen 😂.

Zachte zuren, ziltig en zalvend. Bitters komen in de finale. Lichte boterzuren, granny smith, iets toast, fijne mineralen/grassig. Abrikoos, sterfruit. Prima, lekker, maar geen wauw.
Bij deze ene gaat het desondanks niet blijven.

Clos de la Maréchale Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2002

Very dark rubi robe, no signs of 18 year old. From a half bottle which is remarquable. Notes of flowers and spices, medium bodied, balanced, great acidity and fruit. One of the last vintages before JF Mugnier took it back. Great stuff ! — 5 years ago

Grand cru quality. Way too young. I will love to see this in 15 years. Right now it’s really good Pinot but in a decade or two I bet it will be singing with complexity — 6 years ago

2022 vintage. A bit thin. Not Keira Knightly thin but definitely lean. Still decent with good company and some shellfish. — 9 months ago

Joseph Faiveley Vosne-Romanée Pinot Noir 2015

Initial raspberry, and then tar, earth, barnyard. Soft tannins. Okay finish. A nice wine, good earthy Pinot, but no real complexity at this point. — 10 months ago

Good concentration. Nose of cherry, earth, herbs, and a hint of spice and chocolate. Rustic; great minerality. — 10 months ago

Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2016

Medium light ruby, quite wide garnet rim . Quite floral , light red fruits , herbal , chalky hints . On the palate this is quite light and elegant , raspberry , red cherry , crushed rose , good acidity and quite light but slightly gritty tannin . A little short and simple on the finish . Quite good for a village , but overall quite simple. Drink now and over the next 3-5 years . — 9 months ago

Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2015

What a beautiful expression of Chardonnay in the glass. Both subtle and interesting on the nose, richness of color, and a perfectly balanced wine. And while the wine had a strong mineral foundation it was much more engaging than just a single note. So glad my cellar has several more bottles to enjoy in the years ahead. — a year ago

Light, bright, tart cherry, nice finish. So balanced and well done. Can’t wait to see what this family does with Williams Selyem and CA grapes in the years ahead — 5 years ago
