Valinière Faugères Mourvedre Syrah 2012

Ganska sval upplevelse med en elegant rödbärighet. Betydligt mer drickbart nu än -13. Björnbär och garrigue. — 6 years ago

Les Quartz Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2014

Captures the elegance of Grenache and the 2014s. Pure ripe and confiture fruit, almost liquor like, underpinning of minerals, garrigue, and herbs. Drank too quickly as it needed more aeration — 7 years ago

Domaine de Ferrand

Châteauneuf du Pape Red Rhone Blend 2012

Rich, ripe and dense fruit on the nose. Raspberry, strawberry and plum aromas with hints of garrigue and white pepper. Big and lush on palate with jammy fruit tones and round soft tannins. A bit primary and was hoping for more complexity. Well balanced so interested to see how this ages. — 7 years ago

Clos Saint Jean

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2011

Nose: all the aromatic flavours of excellent Grenache first - then loads of spiciness, garrigue, elegant oak, roasted meat, black fruit (black currant, cherries)
Palate: very very fine and silky tannins, medium to high body, red/black fruit, nice oak, great complexity

J. B. Cavalier Garrigue Languedoc Red Blend

Deep baked dark fruit on the nose. Bloody and jammy in the mouth with lots of garrigue and afternotes of charred meat. A bit of green olive. — 8 years ago

Château Rayas

Réservé Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend 1988

An earth driven nose with overtones of garrigue. This wine was terroir driven vs fruit driven. Compared to the other vintages I found this wine benefited the least from air. — 9 years ago

Domaine de Marcoux

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2011

Elegant and lofty CNDP. Great example of the finesse that these wines can have despite their brooding personalities. The Grenache shines through, loads of cooked red fruit, garrigue, and cool herbal hints. Love the sense of earth with its stoney/smokey character. Sexy and upfront fruit then moves over to a finish laden with provencal herbs, lavender, and herbal spice. Structurally a full and present wine with balanced tannin and relatively fresh acidity. Day 2: much more flesh and savory. Deeply fruited with dark licorice, coffee, herbs. Crazy how heavy this got with a day to wake up. — 7 years ago

2012 Vintage. Dark fruits, garrigue, Faugeres funk, Bootsy Collins bass solo soul, earthy goodness. Fuh-schtinkin'. Plenty of tannins; hide in a dark, cool place for a couple years. Very good. Rebuy. — 10 years ago
