Gigondas Red Rhone Blend

What you would expect from a S. Rhone.

Crystalline character to the red fruit, and while this is a large wine there is very little sense of heaviness. No heat on the finish (this makes me giddy). Dusty fine Grenache tannins. Something feral and wild, sweet skunky earthiness (the garrigue manifests as a rosemary, tarragon, sweet fennel odor that is perfectly beguiling). What a regal Southern rhone wine; what a vintage! It will be so hard not to drink these and allow then to blossom!

All flowers and menthol and soul.

Dried herbs, earth, red and black fruits with hints of clove. Soft grain tannins and good acidity. A bit reduced but opens up nicely.

Jammed Black fruit with spice. Mint. Rosemary. Cocoa bean. Dust. Masa. Big weight with soft tannic structure and acid that isn't overbearing. Slight green edge that shows its youth. #wineschool

Softening nicely at twelve years.

Nariz: cereza, ciruela, regaliz, notas animales, cuero

Boca: algo especiado, pimienta. Taninos M, Acidez M+, Alcohol M+. Cuerpo completo con textura redonda y buen equilibrio. Complejidad M+.

2012 Very good vintage!
Give it a lot of air or wait for the second day then its a pleasure ! Very rich and dense. Many intense berry, herbal and also floral aromas. Pleasure for many more years.

Well balanced. Excellent w Asian ribs.

2012.. Only wine they make. Excellent Gigondas.
