Took awhile to open up. Alcohol and licorice on the nose. Very full and floral. Thin and acidic on the palate. Kind of dry too — 7 years ago
A wine that is memorable — 8 years ago
This is a VERY pleasant surprise (at first pass, I was not sure I would love this but it really opened up). Bought this from the Secret wine fridge at FLX Wienery. After being closed off for many years, this baby needed to breathe. It's from The Rocks before it was known as "The Rocks." The funk is mostly blown off. The power is still there on the finish--which is elegant and long. The fruit is still present with conflicting red and blue fruit--esp. prevalent is dried raspberry and blackberry. The pepper is still present. The tannins are still powering through 17 years later. — 9 years ago

My last '07 😢. The entire case drank nicely all the way until the end! — 10 years ago

Slight floral quality to the edgy sweetness and gorgeous black fruit. I suspect some co-fermentation here (Viognier). Lovely, lively, and lithe on the palate. Plenty of acids here, so this will pair with nearly any meats. Just to reiterate, this is not your typical Paso syrah (no offense), but an elegant rendition of the grape. — 11 years ago
The one and only. One of the best values in all of German wine. Stunning nose. Smells as deep as a GG. Just insane. The aromas of the fruit are so clean and so precise. Just amazing. Peach skin, peach flesh, apricot, nougat, caramel aromas show this is baby Hergott. It’s so precise and so clean but also nuanced and deep. Just a stunning nose. Glorious spice and deep deep minerals. Airy. So so killer. Blind I’d say GG. Wow. I love this wine. So so salty in 2019! U la la! Juicy and so concentrated but elegant and energetic. Sappy peach and apricot fruits on the finish. But also laser like, rapier like minerality. Amazingly pure and deep. So balanced and serene. A zen like experience. Long finish that alternates between fruit, saline and gorgeous mineral. Amazing mouthfeel and purity. Just a stunning Molsheim. Clean finish that just echoes and slowly dissipates. So beautiful.
After some air wow. Herbs on the nose. Hit of honey and the minerals start to waft. Stunning balance and freshness and complex spice and ridiculous fruit on the finish. This is amazing. — 6 years ago
Drank with BBQ at dad’s in Enid while packing wine cellar for move. Dark, slightly rich blueberry, blackberry. Spice although it could be the bbq. Very smooth. A little lighter on the medium-length finish than I remember. May be trending down with age. Very good wine. — 7 years ago

Things I love: Tribut and that lady behind the bottle. 09 Beauroy here. Fleshy, charming, great salinity, nice honeyed aspect, a touch of mushroom overtone. Holding strong and venturing into interesting secondary territory. Cool shot of anise on this too! — 9 years ago

After reading the reviews, I decanted the wine for about 45 minutes. This is what I love in Oregon Pinot noir: raspberries, ease of drinking, pairs well with a light meal of pasta or fish. The bottle disappeared fast. I knew I should have brought the magnum to dinner! — 10 years ago

Great relaxing Sunday drink — 13 years ago
Dark, youthful purple. Powerful, smoke- and mineral-accented aromas of ripe dark berries, licorice, olive and a hint of incense on the deeply perfumed nose. Juicy and sharply delineated in the mouth, offering concentrated, spice-laced blackberry, bitter cherry and fruitcake flavors that take on a smoky aspect as the wine opens up. In an ample but lively style, finishing juicy and extremely long, with building tannins adding framework and youthful grip. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, April 2020)

Austerity Requires Patience...Rich and Elegant with Notes of Black Cherry, Licorice & Cocoa — 11 years ago
Hugely impressed - lots of that forest floor or root vegetable aspect on the nose, but the flavour is all fruit, red into black. Great typicity and great otago character. Excellent value at $35 — 11 years ago
Drank 11/26/13, really good from the start. — 13 years ago

The aromatics show fresh red berries, strawberries, some spices and a floral aspect to it as well. Delicious and fresh palate, juicy, medium bodied, the strong acidity balanced by the silky and rounded tannins. Beautiful and very Burgundian style.
— 6 years ago
