I thought the wine was dead but after 1 hour in the decanter it exploded into life. Aromatics overload. Time to drink up — 6 years ago
Beautiful wine. Silky, slightly smoky and easy to drink. So often you hear fruit forward, it is not. Fruit on the end makes it juicy and happy. 😎🍷🇺🇸 — 6 years ago
Quintessential LLC Napa. 14.5% abv. Dark chocolate. Dark berries. Tabecco. Licorice. High acidity. Medium tannin. Probably great with steak but I had it with rotisserie chicken and Italian sub. — 6 years ago
The 2016 Long Shadows 'Saggi' is a thrilling blend of Sangiovese (Boushey and Candy Mountain Vineyards) with 29% Cabernet Sauvignon (Weinbau Vineyard) and the remainder Syrah (Den Hoed Dutchman and Bacchus Vineyards). The nose is drop-dead gorgeous with bacon fat, black olive tapenade, mocha and fennel. The stunning range of aromas bring you back to the glass for more. Revealing a silky texture and a wonderfully ripe mouthfeel, this slowly unveils smoked meat, black tea, milk chocolate covered cherry and roasted fig flavors. Decadent, layered and downright delicious, this beautiful wine will enjoy an exceedingly long life in the cellar. Drink 20-9-2033- 95 — 6 years ago
09’ This is singing @Mike R Another wine from Mike- If this wasn’t the WOTN, it was damn close. Black fruits, black licorice, blackberry jam, floral notes, smokiness. This is a drop dead gorgeous wine. A very polished wine!! Especially from this vintage. There’s no need to hold onto this any longer. Drink them up in the next 10+ years. — 7 years ago
Fint och svalt vin. Smakar svart vinbär. Dricks en varm dag på balkongen med litet snacks. — 5 years ago

Bold but smooth, sooo good! — 7 years ago
Excellent. Red berries, brut, delicious. Drink this for the joy, not the complexity. — 6 years ago
It’s a nice table wine. What are you expecting for ten bucks. It’s smooth aromatic and full body. Okay. — 6 years ago
Still opening...
Red to orange to yellow to clear lip. Unfined with sediment mixed in (clearly I disturbed her). Some initial strawberry on the nose, then anise, and mild petroleum. Strong green olives on the palate, any taster would immediately identify this note. Going to hold for a bit before pronouncing judgement...
1 hour in.... Olives have bent towards muddled mushrooms. Better...
So I certainly respect this wine, but there really isn't a lot to hang my hat on. The fruit is pretty much dead. The olives wouldn't relent overall. It remains savory. So this could possibly pair with a soft mild cheese (brie), or on the other side of dinner with something not too sweet (cheesecake), but I'm stretching. I guess , in
my opinion I would surmise that it is past peak.

The Wife and I have just started our wine journey. Picked this up for fun. We enjoyed it. — 7 years ago
Dr Latour is wrapping up 2017 in proper fashion. 59. Dark core with only a hint of bricking. These are almost indestructible when kept properly. Drank like a younger wine. 3hrs open and was very showy and sweet. “Sexy” as some might call it is dead on. Blackberry kirsch, some cedar and a little black olive all wrapped in this velvet almost liqueur like package. Happy New Year to all my WNH/Delectable friends and family. Love JL. — 7 years ago

“Perfectly rounded” was what first came to mind when I drank this. Rich and opulent, yet incredibly seamless. Even in its youth, the mealy and creamy vanilla oak character did not feel out of place, especially against the preserve-like fruits ranging from lemons to apricots. Expectedly long with a dense glycerol-like texture, savoury finish, and energising acidity. Not typically a style that I’d rave about, but credit where credit’s due, the concentration, texture, and oak quality were all remarkable. CW even went so far to say that it was Monty-like, and I’m certain he isn’t the first nor last person to make such a claim. However, we too noted that the warmth and lack of verticality in structure was a dead giveaway of its Napa origin. A contemplative wine of great presence at this point, but probably needs another decade or more to be truly digestible. — 3 years ago
