Following winemaking posts at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill and Matanzas Creek, David Ramey and his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996. Straw with aromas of sweet stone fruits with citrus notes and honey scents. On the palate ripe apple, peach and apricot flavors with toasty oak, creamy. Lingering smooth finish, energetic, ending with earthy notes. Delicious! — 7 years ago
Another beauty that was so graciously gifted to me from DAVID L 🎤! Realm’s “Moonracer” is now produced from these grapes. This Hartwell is incredible!!! Juan Mercado certainly picked a gorgeous winery to buy!!!
All the profiles that are in my wheelhouse: lush dark red fruit, just a minute hint of spice on the back palate., strong contender but Mole Hill ruled the world tonight! — 7 years ago
@Shawn R @David L I’m going through my pics to see if you guys missed any of the wines that we enjoyed and found this one!
By far one of the best Napa Chardonnay that I have had this year. Absolutely Amazing.
It’s in a great spot right now and easily has another 15 years ahead of it.
Truly freakishly good. Napa’s Version of a Batard Montrachet. — 8 years ago
Winemaker Benoit Touquette has a masterpiece on his hands! Thank you David Stevens and Elizabeth Vianello at 750 Wines for introducing us to this dark magenta beauty. Always an interesting blend of fruit from all over the valley, this one has great dark fruit and dry chocolate tastes. The grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon: 75% from Calistoga, Saint Helena, Pritchard Hill, Yountville
Merlot: 6% from Saint Helena
Syrah: 5% from Calistoga
Zinfandel: 5% from Yountville
Petite Sirah: 5% from Saint Helena
Petit Verdot: 2% from Saint Helena
Malbec: 1% from Saint Helena
Cabernet Franc: 1% from Saint Helena. Insane....right? You bet! — 8 years ago
Just baked blueberry muffin with cinnamon on the nose. Beautiful flavors of tea leaf, blueberry, baking spice and a little mocha on the palate. An extremely complex wine from Pritchard Hill. The tannins are ultra-sleek with a fantastic finish. We get some earthiness throughout the entire tasting process which adds to its complexity. Would love to put a case of this back for a decade to see how it matures. Love it!

Following winemaking posts at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill and Matanzas Creek, David Ramey and his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996, a Chardonnay from the Hyde vineyard. Hyde, in my opinion is their best Chardonnay. Aromas of ripe stone fruits with citrus notes and subtle oak. On the palate complex flavors of apple and peach flavors, crisp oak, well balanced lingering finish ending with slight mineral notes. Drinking well now, should improve over next few years. — 7 years ago
This was a 100% last minute rockstar pull. The prior edge Hill definitely disappointed but this came through with flying colors! Such richness, opulence and integration. Vanilla, oak, crème brûlée, torched apricot and Absolute jubilance!!!!! Bad ass Chardonnay for any occasion bar none. @David L @Joe Lucca @Shawn R @Ron R @Mike R @Howard Greenfield @Shay A — 7 years ago
This is a solid red blend from David Hill. Very drinkable and a great everyday red. Great QPR. Picked it up at Trader Joe's for $11/bottle. — 8 years ago
Gah. So good. Mosel-esque with a depth that reads like egg custard. — 8 years ago
I didn't find it to be too sweet. It was a mild, nicely balanced and a very smooth reisling. — 8 years ago

Great Line up, — 9 years ago
@David A Lentine @Ron R very nice but I was expecting more. We all thought the 2010 cores and the Clarendon hill beat this one. Very good, not insanely great. The wine was very light on the palate. Didn't seem to have the depth, broadness or character of the other 2.drink it now if you have it. Definitely won't get any better.

Following winemaking posts at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill and Matanzas Creek, David Ramey and his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996. Platt is Ramey’s coolest vineyard. Aromas of ripe stone fruits with citrus notes and subtle spice. On the palate tons of fruit just starting to emerge with apple and lemon flavors, well balanced lingering finish ending with a slight mineral tang. Drink now and over next few years. — 7 years ago
Had this about a year ago. After stints at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill and Matanzas Creek, winemakers David Ramey and his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996. Sunshine Straw with aromas of stone and tropical fruit with sweet vanilla oak scents. On the palate apple, peach and apricot flavors, citrus zest with toasty oak. Lingering on a smooth finish ending with creamy notes. Delicious! Aged well. You can still find the 2014, so grab one, you won’t be disappointed. — 7 years ago
Following winemaking posts at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill and Matanzas Creek, David Ramey and his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 4% Malbec, 2% Syrah & 2% Petit Verdot. Deep purple with fresh berry fruit aromas and earthy spice tones. Blackberry currant flavors, almost jammy, with herb notes and soft fine tannins. Medium finish, easy drinking best now over next couple of years, ending with a spice character. — 7 years ago
So I believe this Sunshine Vineyard is from the Wappo Hill portion of the Hartwell Estate......sorry now this portion belongs to the Realm Cellars estate. (Moonracer) Highly recommend checking out if you find it @Carl Fischer @Shay Aldriedge @Ron R @Martin G Rivard @David L @Isaac Pirolo @Roman Sukley @Paul T
Medium to deep garnet red with bricking on the edges. Stinky and savory on the nose straight from the get go. Opened up over the next half hour or so with stoney notes, a touch smoky and soft red cherries. Well integrated and smooth, moderate tannins (6/10). Beautiful aged characteristics on the palate with notes of dusty black cherries, a touch of chalk and dust, mushrooms, truffles, and also gains some aged red cherries. Medium plus body with a super long finish. This bottle has aged very well. Drink now if you like power in your Cabernet but this will keep for few more years. Drink till 2020. — 8 years ago
@David A Lentine Thank you David for sharing this awesome bottle from your cellar with me!! The 07 is in a great place right now. Love the dark berries: blueberry, boysenberry & blackberry. That's right up my alley!! I love it!
Soft, no rough edges and it's hitting the front, mid and back. Awesome bottle of wine! I owe you one bud! 😍🍷🍷😍👏👏👏 — 9 years ago

Very expressive herbaceous nose, the palate is voluptuous with many dessert notes, ends in a somewhat sharp, long manner — 6 years ago
