@Shawn R ...WELL DONE! This was part of a trio of wines that Shawn and I swapped. He was swooning over this and said it was a must try. Now I see why. This is a Dave Phinney wine and though you can taste his style, it's more elegant than The Prisoner (similar blends in that this is majority zin! Would not of guessed it). Ton of blackberries upfront on the nose...small spice to it and a rockin cedar/smokey note. On the palate, surprising acidity. Not overpowering from a tannic standpoint at all, even as a '14. Vanilla, toasted oak, blackberry jam. Shawn sent this as I told him my wife likes the jammy and bold zins...home run, Shawn! — 9 years ago

One of my favs I love all of Dave Matthews wine — 10 years ago
Another great Phinney wine! It's drinking really well. Amazing dark purple color. Lots of berries. — 10 years ago
Refreshing clean finish from the Central Coast. Faint pear and burnt caramel with a slight citrus overtone. Delightful with grilled fish or chicken. Dave Mathews is affiliated with the winery. Reasonably priced -
go buy a bottle and give it a try - you'll end up buying more... — 11 years ago

"I" by Dave Phinney. Superb Italian cab blend. — 13 years ago
Palermo from Orin Swift borrows its label, featuring a mummified Capuchin priest, from one of a series of images taken by National Geographic photographer Vincent J. Musi of 16th century Capuchin Catacombs. Four long limestone corridors underneath the Capuchin Church in Palermo, Sicily hold about 8000 mummies. After looking over the rest of Musi’s series, I’m surprised Dave Phinney didn’t create an entire line of wines using the images from this collection. Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Malbec and Merlot, and all from Napa Valley. Packed with extracted dark fruit, cassis, vanilla, cedar, and chocolate, the Palermo eschews nuance in the name of hedonism. — 9 years ago
From Corsica, an island south of France and west of Italy. The grape is vermentino. Mineral nose, slight hint of flowers, can't tell the fruit... maybe pear, yellow apple. Excellent wine for under $20 price. I am in love with Corsica! — 9 years ago
a bit heavy on alcohol at almost 16% but huge delivery, typical Dave Phinney style — 10 years ago
Was apprehensive at first as last time I had this (a year ago with Big Wave Dave) it was the cliche Oz Shiraz fruit bomb with high alcohol bordering on over extraction. On the second outing a lot more complex. Still classic cassis fruit and choc/tobacco overtones but not over the top and with some nice acidity still. Less spice than typical. Nice underlying tannin backbone. Lovely mouthfeel and medium body and finish. A little time has done its work nicely. — 10 years ago

Thank you Dave and Sara. Delicious. — 10 years ago
Light, not overpowering. Not a lot of tannins — 10 years ago
Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir. Deep ruby color with bright red fruit and beautiful acid indicative of a cool climate Pinot. Great structure with notes of winter spices, coffee and chocolate. Produced by two of nicest guys I have have ever met, Rich Aurillas and Dave Roberts - both former baseball players and all around good guys. Only 150 cases produced. — 11 years ago
After party with Dave. — 12 years ago
Another winner from Dave Phinney. Lived this wine. — 13 years ago
Wonderful. Spanish Red Wine Dave Phinney-Orin swift — 13 years ago
Another great Dave Phinney wine, this more price approachable blend is really good. Fruit forward, berries, vanilla and some aniseed flavours. This 'lesser' wine knocks many more expensive competitors off their podiums. Glad to have found it. — 9 years ago
Great Grenache. — 9 years ago
First mentioning bought this at a rite aid!!! Not in NY!! also Dave Matthews - more reason to love it! Silky and rich sooo good! — 10 years ago

Sipping Fine Wine
History of OFC dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah blend. Aromas of fresh ripe red fruits with sweet spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry, cacao and espresso notes with sweet savory tannins, well balanced on lingering finish ending with toasty oak and sweet fruit. — 8 years ago
