There's this like pink bubble gum flavor throughout (maybe this is Dave Matthews contribution?) but there great dry finish. Really interesting - would recommend. $12.34 from golden eagle — 7 years ago
Palermo from Orin Swift borrows its label, featuring a mummified Capuchin priest, from one of a series of images taken by National Geographic photographer Vincent J. Musi of 16th century Capuchin Catacombs. Four long limestone corridors underneath the Capuchin Church in Palermo, Sicily hold about 8000 mummies. After looking over the rest of Musi’s series, I’m surprised Dave Phinney didn’t create an entire line of wines using the images from this collection. Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Malbec and Merlot, and all from Napa Valley. Packed with extracted dark fruit, cassis, vanilla, cedar, and chocolate, the Palermo eschews nuance in the name of hedonism. — 8 years ago

Great wine, hurrah for D. Phinney — 8 years ago
Solid blend from Dave Coffaro. Zin, Cab, carignan, and Petite Sirah. Enjoyable young but will age nicely. Beautiful dark color, plenty of oak and bramble fruits. This was aged for 16 months in a barrel. This is a big, bold and balanced wine. Drink or hold. — 6 years ago
I really liked this! Very smooth! — 7 years ago
Founded in 1988 by Dave Miner, president of Oakville Ranch Vineyards, along with his wife Emily and his parents, Ed and Norma. Gorgeous light Ruby on the pour, ample red fruit aromas with oaky spice notes. Palate has big cherry and sweet red plum flavors, cacao and cinnamon spice with balanced oak. Rich full soft tannins lingering finish ending with herb character. Very Nice! Went well with a Halibut Livornese. — 7 years ago
Another great Dave Phinney wine, this more price approachable blend is really good. Fruit forward, berries, vanilla and some aniseed flavours. This 'lesser' wine knocks many more expensive competitors off their podiums. Glad to have found it. — 8 years ago
From Corsica, an island south of France and west of Italy. The grape is vermentino. Mineral nose, slight hint of flowers, can't tell the fruit... maybe pear, yellow apple. Excellent wine for under $20 price. I am in love with Corsica! — 8 years ago
a bit heavy on alcohol at almost 16% but huge delivery, typical Dave Phinney style — 9 years ago
Was apprehensive at first as last time I had this (a year ago with Big Wave Dave) it was the cliche Oz Shiraz fruit bomb with high alcohol bordering on over extraction. On the second outing a lot more complex. Still classic cassis fruit and choc/tobacco overtones but not over the top and with some nice acidity still. Less spice than typical. Nice underlying tannin backbone. Lovely mouthfeel and medium body and finish. A little time has done its work nicely. — 9 years ago
Balanced Cabernet Sauvignon from Dave Matthews, light with grape flavor and low acid and tannin, at Dirty Water Pizza Co. In Back Bay, Boston — 6 years ago
History of OFC dates back to 1995 when on a lark, David Swift Phinney took a friend up on an offer and went to Florence, Italy to spend a semester “studying”. During that time, he was introduced to wine, how it was made, and got hooked. A Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah blend. Aromas of fresh ripe red fruits with sweet spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry, cacao and espresso notes with sweet savory tannins, well balanced on lingering finish ending with toasty oak and sweet fruit. — 7 years ago
