Old school battle. Blankiet takes it easily. Perhaps a vintage disadvantage for Dalla Valle? Haven’t had many 2000’s. Hour 2 update: both wines have calmed down and the Dalla Valle has improved considerably. Both wines are fully mature, smooth, integrated, and complex. Dead heat. — 7 years ago
Andy Erickson's history is hard to beat...Harlan, Staglin, Hartwell, Ovid, Dalla Valle and some place called Screaming Eagle. This one, while not the same notoriety as the others, still shows Mr Erickson's ability to blend an amazing wine. Not overly complicated, but great overall food wine. — 9 years ago
Tasted along side of the '98 Insignia and '97 Dalla Valle. Congrats to the Araujo, the winner! Jammy dark fruit structure starting to weaken (as was the case with all three). The nose was complex w/ dark fruits, licorice and herbal notes. — 9 years ago
So this wine beat Harlan, Bond, Colgin, Scarecrow in a blind tasting, scoring in the top bracket with Dalla Valle Maya. Wow! Of all those others, I've only had the pleasure of Colgin. And expert taster though I am not, I also found this comparable to that experience. Speaks classic California Cab to me - nice structure of dark red fruit followed by some cigar/tobacco and finishing with long silky tannins. I volunteer for next blind tasting of this against Screaming Eagle, Harlan, et al.!!! — 11 years ago
Stump the chump wine! Old but not completely gone! Had fun with this — 11 years ago
Dead on review from @Antonio Galloni. Killer second label IMO. — 6 years ago

For those of you not familiar with Le Pich, I took this from their site...Le Pich, which is the Wappo Indian term for "golden eagle," is the sister label of Napa Valley's esteemed Purlieu Wines. The wines are crafted by rising star winemaker Julien Fayard. Originally from France, Julien has lived in the Napa Valley since 2006, when he and his wife agreed to settle down by “meeting halfway” — between his home in France… and hers in Sonoma. In France, Julien worked in both Provence and Bordeaux, where he defined his core winemaking style at the exalted first growth Château Lafite-Rothschild (he even lived in Lafite’s grand château for a period) as well as at Smith Haut Lafitte. In Napa, Julien worked at Quintessa before joining Atelier Melka, where he spent five years as the Director of Winemaking. He has worked with the likes of; Lail Vineyards, Gemstone, Dalla Valle, and more.

Earlier today we hiked 5 miles on some gorgeous mtn trails - it literally took my breath away. And right about now I am feelin the burn immensely, and I luvvvv it. It's Friday and it's fun, but something is missing....ah yes, Heidi Barrett and her elegant Revana Cab. I have appreciated her work for a while (Dalla Valle, Amuse Bouche, Screaming Eagle, should I keep going?) - and who doesn't respect someone who always tries their best to make it perfect (with 5 100pt wines to her name, ridiculous). This 2005 is drinking really nicely right now - a total fruitbomb. Lots of vanilla and cherry flavor. Sidenote: I have heard great things about later vintages too since TRB subsequently took over. #happyfriday #heidibarrett — 10 years ago

I followed this over two days. It was initially opened alongside a 2016 Maybach Materium, 2013 Kapscandy Roberta’s Reserve, 2002 Colgin Cariad and a 2006 Dalla Valle Maya.
Aside from BV’s Guest Cottage, this is the only wine from them I haven’t had. Sporting almost a 16%ABV, it poured like motor oil in to the glass. Thick, rich and heady aromatics. This has that classic high quality Napa cab smell to it...smells of expensive toasted oak, espresso, fondue dipped dark fruits, and spiced nutmeg. A meal by itself on the palate, this is a 2013 that is unsurprisingly massive and in need of food to cut through the tannins. Dark initially before it turns slightly red fruit forward at the finish...dark cocoa topped black cherries, espresso sweetness, and black currant. I’d hold at this point. Not sure a decant is doing much at this stage. — 6 years ago
The Black fruit are so balanced.. You could only dream of a CAB like this.. delicious smooth rich.. — 6 years ago
This is Purlieu’s sister winery. We were the second tasting given in their new facilities just on the edge of Napa as you approach from American Canyon.
We started our visit with a splash of their 17 Sauvignon Blanc as we toured their new facilities.
A hybrid of tropical & dry style. It has understated tropicals of mango, pineapple, white citrus, peach, cut grass, round acidity and nicely polished finish.

Had the 2010 Roll Ranch with Christmas dinner of prime rib, baby artichokes, asparagus, roasted potatoes. Had this after a 1999 Dalla Valle Cabernet. A little thin on first sip and not a as full as the regular cuvée. Losing fruit? Energized and vibrant for an older vintage. After some time in the glass, the wine filled out and is improving. Maybe decant? — 11 years ago
Nose, nose and more nose. Silk in the mouth and the tannins are mostly gone. Drank over two hours, and the last 30 minutes was the magic time. Needed a side car touch more but never a bad thing to be yearning for a little extra. — 11 years ago
