Smooth but tannic Nebbiolo at Old Vines in Kennebunk, Maine — 7 years ago
One of the treasures of Emília Romagna at Osteria Riva $150. Quite full and robust following the 2000 Marzieno Zerbina which preceded it $130, which blew Andy away - reminded him of ancient Hill of Grace - thinner, closer to the end of its life but much finer style, while the 2005 from the previous week ($120) can probably survive a few more years. — 8 years ago

La Riva - “ Miraflores Baja “ — 6 years ago
Fruit forward. Dark purple almost black. Not as dark as the ‘11 Riva di Levante. Blueberries, blackberries, jammy. Incredible mouth feel and soft tannins. Drank after 1 hour decant. — 7 years ago
This Chardonnay is oaked to what I hope is the maximum point. On the nose, a strong vanilla scent meets a Carmen Miranda hat of tropical fruit, like pineapple, mango and banana. The acidity is zippy yet the mouthfeel is creamy, thanks to 100% malolactic fermentation. Citrus lasts the longest on the finish, but it has to fight it out with the oak to do so. If you're in the mood for a good ol’ fashioned California Chardonnay, this is your bottle. — 7 years ago

Elegant, notes of maritime breeze. — 6 years ago
Concentrated cherry on the nose. The palate matches with added black pepper and a touch of earth, plus some chewy tannins. Perfect with veal loin in an asparagus sauce and/or beef cheek with mashed potatoes at Al Volt in Riva del Garda, Italy. — 6 years ago
Required almost 2 hours of decanting. It was quite the experience because this Barolo continued to evolve and provide new flavours throughout the night. Plums, figs, berries, strawberries, raspberries, followed by vanilla, oak, humidor notes, earth, mild herbaceousness, truffles. Tannins are big, chewy but soft and persist for a long time. It’s a complex wine that provides gifts of new flavours that are very well integrated. — 7 years ago
