Ruby colour of beautiful intensity. Peppery nose, fresh red and black fruits, animal notes, bacon, and smoked. A racy, straight Cornas. Velvety mouth texture. Syrah as we like it. 2014 a vintage a priori not obvious, which will have ended up finding its balance in its ninth year.

Unfiltered greek PN strongly influenced by Burgundy influence..The mouth is voluminous, built on a dual relationship between cherry/mushrooms and notes of aging in oak barrels. We would like to find a specific characteristic a little more marked to distinguish it. 🇬🇷

Pinot noir grecque non filtré, fortement marqué par l’influence bourguignonne. La bouche est volumineuse, marquée par un rapport duel entre cerises champignons et notes d’élevage en fût de chêne. Tasted blind, 4 wines, 3 varietals. The 3 of us had the same ranking in terms if the wines, this one came in no 2 for all of us. Expressive nose of mint, lemon, apples, nice tension and balance, delicious. Was the better wine of all 4 on day 2, great QPR.. 89-90

Un nez assez expressif, menthe, citron, pommes, tendu et savoureux, bel équilibre, bu au jour 2 et était le meilleur des 4 au jour 2. Quel beau rapport qualité prix. 89 voire 90

Tasted blind, 4 wines, 3 varietals. The 3 of us had the same ranking in terms if the wines, this one came in no 1 for all of us. Expressive typical Chard nose of lemon, touch of butter, slight oak but nothing disturbing, nice acidity, tense and saline, mineral, just enough roundness to make it a good balance, excellent and great level for a St-Romain. 90-91

Dégustation à l’aveugle, 4 vins pour 3 cépages afin de trouver le cépage. Tout le monde a eu le même classement sur les 4 vins, No 1 pour les 3 dégustateurs. Un nez typé Chardo, assez expressif, citron, touche boisée, tendu et salin, minéral avec juste assez de rondeur et richesse, quel bel équilibre, très beau niveau. 90-91

2016 Sine Qua Non "Dirt Vernacular" California Grenache. The blend is 78% Grenache, 11.5% Mourvedre, 7% Touriga Nacional and 3.5% Petite Sirah, dominated by estate fruit, but some 9% came from the Krankl's blocks at Bien Nacido Vineyard that are farmed to their specifications. 16% alcohol. So for me, it all started with “Incognito.” Greatest Grenache I’d ever tasted. Simply stunning and still one of my favorites. How do you top that one? Well then “The Inaugural” showed up. Phenomenal!Then it’s “Ode To E.” Y’all know I absolutely LOVE that wine! Oh but wait, here comes “Trouver L'Arène.” Exquisite! And just in case you missed them all, now there’s tonight’s selection. And I’m pleased to report that the streak continues. As I’ve mentioned previously several times, Grenache is quite possibly the most difficult and finicky grape. But what really sets SQN apart is the final blend. Simply stated, Manfred is a genius when it comes to blending. If you have one, feel free to pull the cork as this wine is absolutely open for business. About a 3 hour decant at cellar temperature, the nose is, as usual with SQN, mind blowing. Cherries, plums, pepper, teriyaki, kirsch and a bouquet of roses. Full-bodied, ultra-rich, multi-layered palate-staining ripe black fruit smorgasbord. Tremendous depth and purity. What a finish!
