Cave de Tain l'Hermitage

Nobles Rives Syrah

Their was an earthiness where I was expecting meat and pepper. Still extremely good and with great depth. — 5 years ago

Compagnie de l'Hermitage

Le Taurobole Crozes Hermitage Roussanne Marsanne 2011

Nose is floral/tropical.

Palate is honey and cantaloupe.

As this opens its quite elegant. Not a great wine. But as the English would say lovely. Palate has apricot pits and almost diluted honey. Not an in your face honey. But an elegant one.

Bought from fass selections.

Secret de Famille Tain L'Hermitage Viognier

Citrus, but not too sweet, which was very nice and allowed an underlying mineral tone to come through. Paired extremely well with a thermidor sauce on seafood, cutting right through it and pastry puff. Use to balance a rich heavy cream dish. — 7 years ago

Hermitage Syrah 2007

Great example of savoury Syrah. Notes of chicken liver, foie gras, leather, olive, and herbs. Good, but not as exciting on the palate as the nose. On the lighter side of full bodied with balanced acidity. Fantastic wine with food. Try with beef or lamb stew. — 8 years ago

Première Note Syrah

Surprisingly good, and as clearly northern Rhone syrah as any wine can be. It has the strong fruit and the floral complexity, but remains smooth on the palette and well balanced. — 5 years ago

Epsilon Hermitage Syrah 2009

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Not bad although disappointing given age and grand cru. An hour later was better although clearly means too early to drink for me. Should have held it for longer. — 8 years ago

Grand Classique Hermitage Syrah

2016 vintage. Dark red. Black fruit, fresh herbs and a tarry hint, still holding back but obvious underlying complexity. Ripe blackberry and cassis, good focus and fresh acidity, refined tannin and an overall sense of harmony. Cave de Tain is probably the best co-operative in France and this is another fine showing. Good value for Hermitage at about 36 euro. — 5 years ago

Zellberg L'hermitage Nature Sylvaner 2001

First, best cork design ever. And agreed with the joy of the little dude on it. Some nice aging notes—caramel, woodsy honey, almost a sherry tinge—with ripe stone fruit, lemon. Fruit’s fading with age, but still lovely... Christmas brunch! — 7 years ago

A traditional style Left Bank Bordeaux here. I bit of earth, a pinch of herbaceous-ness, , currants, and mature tannins. Paired with beef culotte — 8 years ago
