Hint of blueberry and spices gives it a nice body. It is not sweet but a very balanced flavor. — 6 years ago
Après les Cabottes 13 bu quelques jours plus tôt, je m’attendais à un vin severe ici aussi. Au contraire un vin beaucoup plus tendre, rempli de fruits noirs, qui s’améliore le temps du repas. Un beau vin ! — 7 years ago
I decided that lunch with family at a terrific restaurant was a fitting setting for my last bottle of 1997 Pinon Vouvray Cuvée Tradition, a wine that has seen so many family celebrations through the years, and it again performed admirably. This bottle is probably a little past peak, showing a little oxidation, but Chenin handles a little oxidation pretty well as the honeyed stone fruit and minerals seem to absorb it. With the sec tendre sweetness and still lively acidity, it is made for food, and paired brilliantly with a range of inventive and delicious dishes focused on seafood and vegetables, though it worked with a raw beef dish just as well. The wine may be gone, but the memories of it will last for a long time. — 8 years ago

Always loved this wine: sec tendre style but with bracing acidity, vivid yellow fruit - mid weight w/great balance thru finish — 10 years ago
More of a sec tendre. Will be interesting to follow over a day or two. — 8 years ago
Another gem from Chidaine. Such a rich, powerful Chenin. This is a richer demi-sec style, and it shows Francois has just as deft a hand with his sweeter wines as he does with his dry bottlings. Slight but noticeable botrytis influence. Highly concentrated, rich, intoxicating nose of orange marmalade, alfalfa honey and beeswax, brandy-poached peaches and pears in cardamom whipped cream, wet flint, and wooly lanolin. On the palate, the fruit character is similar, pears and stone fruit, but simply fresh and ripe vs the poached fruit character on the nose. An extra shot of flinty mineral intensity, alfalfa honey, and beeswax round on the long finish. Lovely complexity and richness without quite becoming cloying. Pours a medium (-)/medium intensity gold hue. High acid, medium-bodied with a lovely oily, rich texture from lees and RS. Off-dry in the demi-sec/tendre style. Medium (+)/high alcohol, but it's integrated enough, there's the tiniest bit of heat but still totally tolerable. Starting to round out a bit with age but I'd say it's definitely got a bit more to go before it's at peak, still showing relatively young. Would love to have this with some spicy Indian or Thai food. So tasty and opulent. — 8 years ago

Every time I have cider from someone other than bordelet I'm sorely disappointed at how boring apples are. I'm almost sorry if that offends you. Bordelet is the Michael Jordan of cider producers. I think of that scene where Jordan goes flying through the air for a dunk and the glass backboard shatters and showers shards of glass all over 3 other players in the game. 💥 — 9 years ago
