One of the “Bourguignon” producers in the line-up, this examples from Jules Desjourneys was a clear outlier in the group. This was a 2010 and came across younger than anything else we enjoyed over the course of the evening. Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2010 Fleurie “Chapelle des Bois” is locked up in oak but the fruit is there; dark brambles forever with some licorice as well. Unfortunately, it’s going to take a very long time for the oak to give up its grip on this one. Luckily, I think the quality of the fruit will last long enough to make it more enjoyable…eventually. Best after 2025 through 2040; which seems somewhat ridiculous to write. — 9 months ago
Really quite excellent. Pretty dark in the glass - more than expected. Purple berry aromas on the nose. Very perfumed. Medium minus body with a great long finish. Excellent refreshing acid. Mouth coating. Really excellent and perfect with a simple roast chicken with a vermouth pan sauce. — 4 years ago
Smokey leather and raspberry, velvety smooth on the palate. A hint of oak in the nose. — 5 years ago

Delicious 2014. Needed 1 hour to sing to us — 4 years ago
A nice Beaujolais from a vintage that I don’t usually love compared to 2014/2016. Definitely better with an hour or so in a decanter to let the tannins integrate a bit more. Dark purple in the glass - darker than expected. Nice cherry aromas. Still could resolve a bit more on the finish but with a slight chill is nice. — 5 years ago
Deep, heady, dizzying nose of strawberry compote, cherry liquer, sandalwood, maybe some eucalyptus, and other exotic woods.
palate also brings damp earth, light rose , and a slight sanguine note. More muscular Than I would have expected out of a volnay. But at the same time precise and fresh with energizing acidity creating a nervy tension. Sensational
I should mention that it needed considerable time. Started off very floral and strawberry but somewhat one dimensional. Several hours later was a different wine

Big, mineral flavor. Great even without food. — 6 years ago
Assumed this would be over the hill at this point but it was in a perfect spot of harmony. A pleasant surprise! — 6 months ago

This is a good wine, though the Love Idaho Red is a closer match for me. — 9 months ago
Slightly sweet, light, easy to drink. Perfect for a summer day. — 3 years ago
A great La Chapelle. Blueberry, smoke, spice, dark cherries, loads of earth and mineral. Spicey granite. Lovely floral top note as well. Palate is ripe and so so juicy, incredible freshness and purity and shockingly mineral. The fruit is in background. Has a red Riesling quality to it this year. Fruit is more fruit skin than flesh. Cherry, blueberry, cassis and super concentrated but so nimble. Absolutely delicious. Long mineral finish with floral and fruit sneaking in as it airs. Great stuff. — 4 years ago
